Modern epoxies, ckoths and foams have made wooden boats viable again. The older fibre glass (polyester) resins are permiable and cause osmosis satuatation a d rotting. Rot treating the wood beforehand and additives that assist absorbsion mean the wood is encapulated...precautions must be taken when drilling holes for fitting etc additives that slow UV damage help also

Building a boat from scratch or one that is pretty well stripped out can be a boat load of fun, once you have an idea of what you are doing, you can make almost any boat the boat for you. Just take some time, and sometimes a bit of cash😅
