What is a programming portfolio? How do you create one?

Have you started creating your portfolio yet? Did the video help clarify anything for you?

But I know that some boot camps have tutors help students build their portfolio. So it doesn't PROVE that they have those skills.

Have been programming for Atleast 5 to 6 years now though...
I'm trying to also show what other skills I have on portfolio...

I ended up making it into like 1 tab for 1 topic 💀

I got a degree in computer science, but....never had a portfolio perse....never got a job in coding.....now wondering if i should go back and give it one last try at a career in it....idk. thanks for putting these resources out there for people.

andy you gave me a idea to build a portfolio i am in university studying eltrical engineer I made a portfolio of my projects In ee and communication systems and programming interviewer asked about my projects and i showed them my portfolio website deployed on rassberry pie and they didn't took the technical interview for me i went to hr round directly and it was company is IBM

I'm in the middle of my 2nd year for a computer science degree and I realized I'm not doing too much. I'm passing my classes but not using the information. I'm kind of being passive... I decided that I'm gonna take this more seriously and start teaching my self extra things and start a portfolio!

I created a sample portfolio project from scratch and a former client issues a cease and desist calling it a competitive product in violation of a non-compete clause. Be careful of that one.

I would argue that completion doesn't exist in software development and it's a toxic attitude for junior developers, software can be long lasting and developed over many iterations. It's better the get the website working then improve on it over time.

Hey Andy, this is Edmond. I'm trying to be a game programmer. A professor suggested I make a programming portfolio with C++ projects. I was wondering if you have any suggestions. Also, I'm having trouble on figuring out how to practice code. I use a website that peers you up with mentors that help you practice coding, but I need to start making projects. Any ideas?

definition and what it consists of was really good, direction in advice and skills and build up was good. thanks. I am not sure if i will do some kind of engineering which may invovle software or health. I want time to study on the side or travel with family. trying to figure out what path to go for!

I have created an Android App firebase as backend, and two Android games and a website for my self. So all this should be in my portfolio?

I’m currently in school, so I haven’t the time to build personal projects (yet)!

However, I’ve completed a few school projects in my advanced C++ and advanced Python courses. Would it be okay to include those in my portfolio, or should I only showcase personal projects outside of school?

I've heard companies like to see ur progression as a developer..as in ur 1st projects you make to current...so to go back and change what you did on some of those projects might not be the best idea? Or am I off my rocker

I need to do this. I have been coding for 20 years and I dont have one. LOTS of code... but you got to finish your own projects and have them clean enough for company to visit.

after 14 years of projects I just tend to focus on my top 5 best projects instead of listing like 30-40 games-apps-websites. It is just way better like this
