Before watching this video I spoke with an enrollment counselor and was told that I would have access to the courses even if they were transferred in. My follow up question was about the certs. Apparently even if a course is transferred in you still have to pass the cert if one is required for the course. But, you will not have to complete the coursework. The certs are a requirement for the degree. However, if you have completed a cert that can be transferred in then that would cover the coursework and cert required. Hopefully this makes sense. Again, this is information that I received from a WGU enrollment counselor. Let me know if anyone has had a different experience.

If you complete the actual course for one you transferred in, I assume that would supercede it on your transcript? That could help alleviate some of the opportunity cost for people worried about grad school, since they could always replace a transfer if necessary for their next program's requirements.

Thank you for pointing this out had no idea, u can review the coursework at WGU. That honestly was a big factor in my. head in determining which courses to take, 100% right removing the stress is better for anyone wanting to simply pass as fast as possible

Thank you for this video, cleared up many questions I didn’t even know I had😁 I was recently discharged from the Air Force after an injury down range, 11 years in I’d hoped to retire but things don’t always go as planned. Now trying to get into my next career as quick as possible so I’m about to start a flight training and degree program with Liberty University (online degree, in person flight training lol). A Liberty University representative suggested Sophia in order to get to my actual flight classes faster and it seems like I’m getting all this information and getting started with Sophia just in time to pull it all off. Your video was the final piece of the puzzle so again thank you very much! Take care man🤙🏽

I wonder if you will still have access to the WGU classes after you graduate, if you transferred in the credit for that class

Wow! I had no idea that you could still do the course material even if you transferred in the credits. This is huge for me! Thank you!

One potential downside to transferring credits from the 4Ses that I did not see mentioned, excuse me if this was already discussed, is in the case of someone wanting to transfer from WGU to another university and/or apply those credits toward grad school requirements. I would advise anyone thinking about grad school somewhere outside of WGU to check the program's admission requirements before deciding to take a course on Sophia or SDC instead of at WGU. Some MSCS programs require certain prerequisites that will likely not be fulfilled by ACE transfer credits.

hello, cameron. I plan on going to WGU and I was wondering if it’s worth taking classes at the 4 S’s prior to enrollment even though I’ll be receiving financial aid that will most likely cover the entire tuition. I was wondering if taking the classes at the 4 S’s will be easier and less stressful then at WGU. If that’s the case I don’t mind spending money out of pocket to do so. Also as a full time student would classes taken at WGU take longer then at any of the 4 S’s? Your videos have been so informative and helpful!

Hey Cameron, I'm planning on starting at wgu in the next month or so. would it be worth it to wait a few extra months and get as many courses done through the four s's as possible? I have a guaranteed job waiting for me as soon as I finish school. I am starting a job at kfc part time because they are partnered with wgu and will pay 100% of tuition. However I would rather pay a little bit more to get it done faster. Any advice would be much appreciated.

keep in mind if you plan on doing the transfer courses as fast as possible thinking you can do the actual learning later by using the WGU materials... you'll have to cram all those courses with the ones you're actually taking, and learn everything before you graduate

Wow, good to know that you can still access those even after a transfer. So, I might go ahead and knock those out on other platforms after all lol thanks man!

I am glad someone is finally addressing this because I have the same question. Tentatively starting in June and trying to determine how many classes I want to do prior.

Just to make you stress a little less about the retakes you only start paying after the 3rd retake.

Yes most CompTIA will expire in 3 years or so. This is mitigated in one of the following ways:
-Earning CEUs (Continuing Education Units). Go to seminars, complete training, etc.
-Obtaining a higher level certificate. The best example is A+ > Network+ > Security+ > CySA+. Each time you get the next one, the old one renews.
-Getting job experience where the lower level certs no longer matter. For example being a Security Analyst and getting stuff like an OSCP instead of a Security+

Good luck dude, I'm rooting for you. Will be attending WGU later this year/early next year after I get a bunch of prep work done.

So I shouldn't go for certs like network+ and project+ if I can just do a shorter course on WGU ? but simple classes I should do on study/sophia?

Do you mean that you can always go back/have permission to access the study material even after you graduate from WGU...!?
