Seems like a bit of blonker this guy, don't like his energy. Very negative.
ОтветитьHad to watch this interview again. I like Matt. I think he is very honest and has a great outlook on life. Please keep going Matt. You are a tribute to the world of Snooker and a great ambassador even without the fame of some others. Keep trying and may the best of things happen to you.
ОтветитьMatt Selt is a really nice bloke
ОтветитьDave Gilbert, Rory McLeod
ОтветитьI'd go top 8 seeded, after that there should be more opportunities for new in form players with talent to make a living. If you're in the top 64 best snooker players in the world there should be the income to at least make a decent living and fully commit. Otherwise there's an awful lot of players, holding a second job down to make ends meet.. Given standards have risen so much across the board in the last 15-20 years.. Those that cannot make a good living are being held back from improving because of other commitments, not least financial. Otherwise, it's the invariably the same old faces year in year out contending titles.. To make the sport great again, like the 80s, we need a better system to get new talent through, how many Trumps, Hendry's have fallen, not because of talent but because a few unlucky results and money..
ОтветитьInteresting view on the 15k a year by selt, i agree in someway its a little too small amount for a professional sportsman but then again the incentive always there to win matches an improve your yearly earnings as there are quite a few tournies nowadays in a year, great interview an lets hope snooker returns to china so good prize money is handed out
ОтветитьThese are absolutely fabulous! So many players that would be interesting, hard to pick, but Drago, Ding, the perspectives and experiences of the Chinese, Thai, Indian, younger, older. Of course, Steve Davis, Thorburn, Taylor and the older generation are great with all their stories. And Hendry is so good at putting everybody at ease, everybody opens up. Being American, I would love to see something like this in pool, but it's hard to imagine. The mindset seems to be a bit more antagonistic, but with the international popularity these days, why not? Way to go, Stephen! And keep it up!
ОтветитьI don't think that gillbert realises what power he has, in 1972 when I was being bullied at school beaten by teachers and at my lowest at home, he's songs brought sense and calm to my life, god bless you Mr o sullivan
ОтветитьHi could you please talk a bit about the players cues - the balance , tip size , weight, length etc etc etc
ОтветитьThings wont change until barry hearn is completely off the snooker scene ,
ОтветитьMatt is so charismatic, he would secure a sponsorship easily here in the states
ОтветитьSelt is not fucking about
ОтветитьPush shot on black from selt
ОтветитьGood vid, can see why Selt can rub people up the wrong way but also a nice fella at the same time. Think he feels extremely strongly on certain subjects and his delivery of his opinions is a bit blunt. Interesting fella though and do see where he is coming from.
ОтветитьThis one is definitely the funniest one Matthew Selt is a great character. Hope we wins something big soon.
ОтветитьCan we please have Ali Carter in here once
ОтветитьI think it should be the top 32 best players in the world spread the winnings around a bit more increase the enthusiasm for players to get there it would do it the world of good and better wages
Ответитьthat ended on a bad note, that shows the difference between the truly good and the I think I'm good and I think you should pay me a salary whether I play or not. Steven is self employed and has always been and Matt wants to be an employee that draws a salary (Matt wants to play but doesn't want the risks of not winning and that's what social services does pays people because they are unable to work)
ОтветитьAnyone notice the untuckingbelievable sign
ОтветитьLove that the channel isn't just focused on just the 'in' players. Great hearing from the old pros and players like Selt who I didn't know much about and discussed the less glamorous side of snooker. I do agree with him... £15k is disgusting for someone in the Pro category. Hendry is right that you shouldn't be guaranteed a handsome living without winning big tournaments, but how many of the top 16 would be consistently in televised, big money match rounds if they had to play 1-3 qualifiers?
ОтветитьGreat stuff 👍
ОтветитьYou can see Hendry hates losing !
ОтветитьMatt selt comes up with some interesting points , are the wrong people in the wrong jobs , cos snooker needs a reboot , there’s hardly any snooker tables being dusted in my area
ОтветитьIf the fella says he ‘knows what’s wrong with the game’
Let him speak and find if. Give him his voice.
It was like you didn’t what to hear the only interesting thing.
This was a rubbish interview by you Stephen
Jesus Stephen at least be bothered to listen to the man!!
All you got interested in was potting until he asked about you!
What’s the point of doing this if you don’t want to listen and just play snooker🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
£15k if you don’t hit a ball and that’s embarrassing!!!!
How spoilt!
Imagine not going to work for a year and still getting 15k!
I’m a care worker and I don’t get paid that for actually working you spoilt so and so’s!!!
Safety player🥱
What’s the point in being an 70/80’s player when that style was 40 to 50 years ago!!!
Cool
ОтветитьThose are very tight corner pockets
ОтветитьLv this channel, keep it up Stephen. Love hearing all the players inside stories. Its great !!!
ОтветитьI'll be rooting for Selt from now on. Funny bloke and makes some very good points.
ОтветитьStephen sets up 6 reds, then the other 9. Matt's huge mitts set up 1 red then 14...
ОтветитьStephen is quite right about incentive, but if the money doesn't' reach down very fa,r and players have to get second jobs, then you're really limiting how many people can practice enough to get good enough.
He's right, viewers only want to watch the best players, but players who are currently 50, 60 in the world may have financial situation where they can't fulfil their potential. The next Hendry or O'Sullivan may be world 70 at the moment, but they don't have the financial opportunity to become what they should with the right support? Second jobs not only limit table time, they are also mentally and physically draining.
Selt and Hendry are very alike imo and that why they are good friends. Both refreshingly honest and witty.
ОтветитьThat look at the very end....
ОтветитьI don't really follow snooker any more but these chats are great for finding out not only what makes them tick but what they think of the modern game. It's sad in a way that players like Matt have to watch what they say or they get in trouble with the big bosses. You can never please everyone but the Board would be foolish to ignore those good players lower down the ranks.
Ответить"How we met is a good story" . "Oh ,its a brilliant story" (they met on a plane )
ОтветитьIt would be nice to see you invite Alain Robidoux !
ОтветитьMatt Selt is forever a class act
ОтветитьSeems like a nice guy does selt, i know he loves his banter and that but it was lovely to hear him giving stephen praise for his friendship and looking after him on tour and things. Great stuff
ОтветитьReally like the chemistry between them. Matt is an excellent player and has great points around qualifiers etc. Another great episode
ОтветитьI love how straight forward Selt is. Love he doesn't hold his punches.
ОтветитьSo is Ronnie and good guy or bad guy off the table?
ОтветитьTook me a few episodes to work out what’s going on here: it’s Comedians in Cars getting Coffee for Brits. Love seeing this side of Stephen. Thanks for setting up this channel.
ОтветитьMatts opinion on the tour is eye opening , wish you luck Matt , top lad
ОтветитьThe most arrogant BELOW AVERAGE professional there is. Honestly never heard someone so full of it and done absolutely nothing with his career. Awful player doesn't deserve to be on the tour.
