Jesus had healed a blind man earlier in the chapter, and the Pharisees were grilling him about it. They finally cast him out of the synagogue (excommunicated him) for having faith in Jesus. However, Jesus heard about it, and when the Pharisees confronted him, he told them that had they been blind, they would have no sin. What did Jesus mean here? In Lesson 39 of our study of John we learn the answer to this question.
