Dental CROWN - How Long Should It Last?

I had crowns on my front teeth after a cycle accident in my teens. I am now 49. One of those crowns snapped off this week . I am trying to get an emergency appointment, I think the tooth rotted underneath

do they take more off the tooth 4 ceramic than gold crowns?

To further clarify, the back half (close to my gums) cracked the other day and there was this like shaving of it left I guess, like under the top part of the back of the crown and it felt like that piece of skin on the roof of your mouth or something but like super irritating so like my tongue was just like getting it off, eventually was able to tear it off and then it happened again. I really tried to stop but it kept happening and now it’s the middle of the night and yes while slow, it’s like there’s gooey plastic on my tooth (granted almost solid…like thick silly putty. Is this like a thing? Please help

My dentist is recommending a root canal. Is there another option?

I got like six crowns at one time and they’re falling apart in my mouth. I’m not sure why that is the temporaries are three twos covered at one time I don’t know if it’s cheap material or what’s happening but they’re kind of falling apart in my mouth.

My crown (tooth #8) fell out just from eating a sub. My dentist said the reason was from bone loss possibly due to stress. She said my only option was to put in new bone and a implant. I didn't bother to ask the obvious question which is once the new bone is inserted why do I need a implant, why can't you just put the crown back in?

Hey man, I want to get bonding done after I finish my Invisalign treatment but I have one crown at my front tooth and theres a little gap between the two main front ones. Someone told me I can’t get the crown bonded and the crown is shorter at the gum line than my other front tooth beside it. I'm being advised to get a crown on it as well as my other front tooth so they match & because they said my root canal tooth becomes hollo & can break easy. But idk because my tooth looks good. I have had an upper bridge since 1982. After a major dental operation some of my front teeth needed crowning because the cement used, stained them badly. It was put in by a very careful, fussy dentist. I have four crowns and I'm very happy with them so far. I have 3 infront and one is the last tooth in the back. My dentist used the zirconium crowns. There is no dark gum line with my crowns. Now I forget I have them and they feel like my real teeth. No problems eating... I just worry about the crowns staining through out the years. Because I'm pretty sure there's no way of whitening the crowns. So far no one can tell I even have crowns.

Some dentist will try to get you crowns even if you dont need them…always go for a second or third opinion…..crowns cost shit load of money

I am having a root canal on the tooth in front of my eye tooth on the right side and my teeth are crooked and crowded and my bite is way uneven and I grind my teeth!😆 I had one done already on the left side a jaw tooth and it seems to be doing fine but I am not looking forward to going back for my long appointment! lol but with this one he said I am going to need a cap and crown I didn need both with my jaw tooth so I am a bit nervous!
