Footage shows koala in tree during heavy winds from Tropical Cyclone Alfred

The team at RSPCA Queensland says wildlife should be given space during wild weather. 'Wildlife, as the name suggests, are experts at survival, instinctively seeking the safest places during extreme weather,' RSPCA Queensland says. 'However, storms and heavy rain can leave them stranded, drenched, or injured. For example, a koala high up in a tree is in its safest position. If people gather at the base, it may feel too stressed to move to an even safer location. The best action you can take is to step back, give it space, and observe from a distance if it's safe to do so'
