You mixed together the history of Ukraine and Russia and titled it all history of Russia, which in the contest of the current war is a slap in the face of Ukraine and helps Russian narative where they steal the history of other peoples. The fact that Slavic people expanded east does not make all the territory where they lived and originated Russia. If there are no written records or artefacts, then say it the way it is - no info until this happened.

you are starting from history of Norther Caucasian states (which belongs to them), then continue to Kievan Rus (which is history of Ukraine, Volodymyr the Great in chronicles - not Vladimir, and all what you say about Kievan Rus is about Ukraine), during all this time Moscow and 95% of russia are under swamps, and finally at 13th century there are some movements staring at these swamps. Dont spread russian propaganda bullshit

The 'Kyiv Rus' is the history of Ukraine, and all the rulers of that time are part of Ukraine history. Only at the end of 'Kyiv Rus' on the outscirts 'Rus' some cities and towns where founded which in future become Moskovia. But they went in completely different direction, they where under influence of Mongols and pay tribute for them. Russia's propaganda did a lot in past years. Just check when Kyiv was founded - 482, Moskow - first mentioned 1147. Moskovia was completele different state, of course there where some connection to 'Kyiv Rus', but culturally they where Asia, not Europe.

That's the dumbest shit I've ever seen.
You are telling the story of Ukraine, not the Muscovite horde, which had only to do with Rus as enemies.
Nor is there any "Kievan Rus"; nowhere, never, and by no one has the expression "Kievan Rus" been used.
I understand that the rest of the videos are of the same quality.
Keep sucking, bro.

I'm glad that at this time of insanity and wokeness, we have a video which doesn't try to falsely rewrite history and appropriate all of the history of Russia and pass it off as Ukrainian

But I gotta deduct points, so to speak, for a few things

1) Not appreciating Ivan the Terrible as much. Ivan consolidated power and made Russia into the main power of the region. Without Ivan it's possible that the region could have been conquered by other Slavs or even a Turkic tribe and that thing we call Russia would have never existed

2) If I understand you correctly, only Georgia recognises the Circassian genocide. If that's the case then it's hardly fair to use that term

3) You were too hard on Nicholas II, with the challenges he faced I'm not sure anyone could have succeeded. This was a time where modernity was crumbling Monarchies and Empires everywhere. He was up against impossible odds

Official Russian history is not only propaganda of words. It is also propaganda of deeds, to mobilize the masses in the service of the state. With state organs monopolizing information and education, they also control the past and convince the public that Russia is restoring its superpower status. This allows the Kremlin to pinpoint internal scapegoats and external enemies—and divert attention from its own failures. The annexation of Crimea is a perfect example of how the public can be hoodwinked even while the regime is incapable of delivering economic development.

This video is a whole load of bs propaganda, made up of imperial myths and history written, rewritten and made up by the Russian emperors. They are not descended from Rus, what is now Russia started with Andrey Bogolyubsky, they are descended from a colony that broke away from Rus in 1169.

Halych, volynya, Kyiv, Pereslavl, Chernihiv was the true Rus, whilst everything else was just stuff that belonged to Rus, conquered territories predominantly populated by the Finno-Ugric peoples from whom the wast majority of modern Russians are descended.

Even their ethnonym ”Ruskiye” is a possessive pronoun which means those that to belong to Rus, i.e. conquered peoples.

The notion that when the Mongols came, the Russ, fled to Moscow, is preposterous, because that would mean they were running towards the enemy, as precisely from the area of Moscow is where Mongols came from, since they had captured the Zalesye / Grand Duchy of Vladimir-Suzdal breakaway territories 2 years before attacking Rus.

Something important to know, for all who are interested in history and/or support Ukraine:

Rus' ought not to be confused with modern “Russia”, which derives its name from the Rus' but historically is a completely different state, which almost all its existence was at war with the Rus'.

Just like the Holy Roman Empire was actually Germany, “Russia” is actually Muscovy, despite their best attempts to convince everybody otherwise.

Its name “Russia" received only around 1721, when Peter I simply changed Muscovy’s name into the “All Russian Empire” (Russia originates from Rosia, name used by the Greek Orthodox Clergy in regards to Rus')
Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian.

Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'. They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'.

In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that. From that point on Muscovy started to make false claims on Rus' ownership.

“Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round, despite what Soviet and Russian (Muscovite) historians have been trying to say for years. A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot. Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village.

Germany used to call itself the Holy Roman Empire, that didn’t mean they became the Romans, and all of a sudden had a right to claim whole of Italy and its history, but yet, that’s exactly what Russia (Muscovy) did in regards to Rus'–Ukraine, which is a horrible injustice!

Mr History I'm disappointed with this one. U were not short in words when commenting wrongdoings of previous nations, yet here, when we face one of the most evil country in the world, you were just stating some info like it was a weather forecast. "won war with Georgia"? How about they started it (similar reason and steps taken like with Ukraine now - G was getting closer to EU). "Won war with Chechen?" How about they created this conflict to strenghten their image cuz political support poles were plummeting. "Annexed Krimea"? Let me correct u - ILLEGALLY and viciously annexed it. "Puts expressed dissatisfaction of expanding Nato by invading Ukraine" - it literally sounds like he was justified by you. Wtf man, wake tf up. Or.... are u getting paid by russian government? They are famous for brainwashing people all over the world using internet and social media. If u feel any responsibility then u should take the video down and redo it in some parts. Btw. it misses a lot of important elements of russian history. Unsubbed

Very consise and captured a lot of information. Only thing I would call significant that was missed was Black October where Yeltsin changed the government into what it is today, a super presidency. He ordered the military to attack Russian Parliment and removed all checks and balances that a president may face. Tanks fired on government buildings and no one questioned who was in charge anymore.

Also, the rise of the Oligarchs when all the Soviet Union factories and manufacturing went into private hands. Oof.

Great video!

As for Russias future, the people I know say that ruin is their future due to the Ukraine war. As long as sanctions are going Russia will stay in decline and a continuing brain drain will certainly hurt them in the long run as well. Many young people are moving abroad so their population will remain the same or decrease. If I had to guess I would say that after Putin there will be a major governmental change and chaos will remain for a year or two as the new government finds its footing and implements its changes. I would hope this new government will play nicer with the world as Russias history and its people are great, but they have had a rotten government since the feudal days. They have never been free (except for the two years after the fall of the Soviets).

One thing I suggest to think about is; what would eastern europe look like without the soviets building all those massive projects and buildings? Would it be underdeveloped, would all the local countries have developed their culture in a different way? It is impossible to think of what that part of the world would look like without the heavy influence of the SOviets

1. Not Kiev but Kyiv.
2. Most of history you talked about is about Ukraine, not Russia - even the materials you used in video is in Ukrainian.
3. And this one is actually interesting - from my personal experience everytime when "history of Russia" is told, no one is telling the history of any other regions of modern RF, when they in fact existed and people are living there for ages.

As Ukrainian I can tell you that this history video is misleading and creates more content for russian empire whose job for ages was to conquer and suppress any smaller nations. And no, I'm not saying that only because I'm Ukrainian and we're having war with russia for over last 400 years, but because I was raised in russian propaganda so I had dig in history to find my nation's identity.
