I understand Dustin Hoffman sued Warner Bros. over the way the film was handled, from seeing this trailer with endless voiceover repeat I can see why. Yes, its a pretty damn good crime drama, with great work from Hoffman and the cast. Co-written by Edward Bunker from his book, he was the famous ex-con who became a writer on his release so he knew his stuff. Played Mr. Blue in "Reservoir Dogs" and has a cameo here too. Don't let the trailer put you off.

How often his gona say "Straight Time" again....?

Undoubtedly the most overlooked film of the 1970s.

I sense some subliminal messages in there.

Why is this movie so hard to find??? It's never on TV, it's not on Netflix, and it's nearly impossible to find a DVD of it!!!

Actually, it came out a year earlier, so it would have been up against The Deer Hunter.

Kris, I check the TCM schedule every day and it wasn't on this week. Was it another network you saw it on?

Maybe TCM is different in Europe. It figures you guys in Europe would get all the good movies! LOL!

Wait.  Who's in this?  What's it called?

....Watched it at our local movie theater when it first came out in 1978! Movie Theater was packed out, back in those long ago hazy days things were so uncomplicated, like filling out your tax return form etc. Gone are those lovely days. Wait a minute, no computers though, i like today's times....lol.

If Dustin Hoffman looked liked this still,he'd of been interesting as Tony Stark in the 'Iron Man' movies.

Very good film , though Hoffman is miscasted  but still pulls it off . Bad trailer . Realistic film as a excon released from prison tries to do the right thing but  has a prick parole officer who pushes him a bit too far as he goes back to robbery. . Good cast . You can go to TCM  site and request  a film  and maybe they will play it .

Wrong aspect ratio, wrong frame rate, nothing HQ about this.

Every time I watch this trailer, I say along with the video in a Raymond Babbitt voice: "Dustin Hoffman!...Straight Time!...Dustin Hoffman!...Straight Time!....Dustin Hoffman..."
