It was my first fight in nearly 30 years. I underestimated the psychological effect of trying to punch someone in the face that is younger than your children and closer to your grandsons age than your oldest daughters. Also hadn’t been even lifting before the fight so I was gassed before we hit the ground. I had a game plan of staying on my feet because I knew I didn’t have enough energy to wrestle and you can actually see my face when I’m yelling at myself in my head trying to get the guillotine. When we got to the ground I actually had a second where I felt bad and didn’t want to punch the kid in the face. Then kinda snapped out of it but was still hesitant when throwing. Don’t worry, next month will be better.

Also I feel like if I could have been kneeing him or striking with elbows it would’ve been a different outcome. I would have to remind myself in the moment that those weren’t allowed and it’s harder to do anything when you are in your head. Once I get some more practice I think you’ll see an improvement.
