Those of us who are older now know exactly what's going to happen to Daisy after Gatsby's death: There will never be another love for her. She has his child, a son and she becomes a drinker. She stays married to Buchanan and hates him. He constantly cheats on her & is shot and killed by an angry husband. Daisy doesn't care. When she passes out of this world she reaches out for Gatsby.

I really hated Daisy for this, she didn't deserve him at his best... At all. As well as everyone who attended his parties, all of them just bled him dry.

Ever since I saw this film properly in 2020 during university it stuck with me ever sense. At the time I was going through a similar phase as Gatsby..loving a woman who did not love me back and I finally realised...you cannot force/buy real love and adoration...it is organic and it cannot be manufactured...I learned to never chase or force something that did not value me again.

This scene gives me so many chills my gosh ..

It was the right timing in 2014, during the peak of the global economic bubble, especially in Asia, to make a film with a "Roaring 20s" theme that proves history always repeats itself.

One thing I love about this scene is how when Gatsby asks Nick what he thinks about something, Nick replies “splendid” and Gatsby uses that same word to refer to something later when they are in the piano room.
Gatsby thinks of Nick as an important person compared to the captain he saved.
