I have a web novel to introduce to you, it's called The Lord of the mysteries here's a part of it.

Gehrman would rarely expose his feelings because, well, who would even feel for an aloof murderous man like him?

He had isolated almost everyone in his life for the sake of finding a way back to his world, but that proved to be a mistake and now he was left hopeless and alone.

Gehrman would rarely admit it. So would Klein, but he felt lonely—he felt like he was all alone in this world.

And that, hurt him.

Gerhman sighed, looking at the empty desk within the Sefirah Castle. Creeping Hunger lay on the desk quietly, afraid to disturb his solituxs.

Times like this made him miss his Nighthawk days, ignorant of the greater scheme and simply enjoying days with his companions.

But now... all he had left was nothing.

Even his purpose, mission was struck down from him.

Gerhman, for once, allowed himself to admit he was hurt.

Hurt by loneliness, hurt by madness, and hurt by the emptiness of everything.

If only, if only there was someone that could understand him. Perhaps existing would be more tolerable.

But who was he who desire that? Who was he to request that?

Caged by his own aloof mask and fate, he didn't let anyone enter his inner world. He expected no one to enter it—he was after all, a murderous aloof man.

He would never think someone can understand him and empathize with him. He dug his own grave with his decisions, and it was fine (not).

Woosh!

At that moment, impervious of his monologues, a bright crimson light erupted as a blonde haired woman appeared on one of the seats.

“Good morning, Mr. World! How's your day?”

But to his surprise, there was someone that saw differently.

Like Leonard, but she was different.

She was like a brightly lit star, shining everywhere she goes. But that wasn't the main point; there was no sense of malice at all from her.

He couldn't sense anything.

Audrey Hall was as genuine as she gets.

In this godforsaken world of madness, she was the light that guided the World in the right direction.

She was Justice.

Praise the Fool Klien Moretti 😊

I would be really curious what you think of the Break. It is an incredible series, which deals with a similar issue as Bear town and one of my favourite books.

I'm glad you liked the HHGTTG books. My personal favourite version of that story is the original radio series, which came first. Well worth checking out if you love Douglas Adams. It might have the effect of making the books seem a bit stodgy and slow. His two Dirk Gently books are also worth a read.

from the sounds of her talking about driving a story past the generation, she wont like boruto. Though i'd argue it makes sense since naruto is all about passing on your world and making it better for the next generation and fixing the problems the prior generation made.

I don't read much. I recently picked up my first book in 12 ish years three days ago called "The Three Body Problem". I have not been able to put it down. That book brought me here to your channel and I have watched several of your videos now. I am considering picking up "The Age of Madness" per your recommendation. Who knows, perhaps I am reaching the age where I now enjoy reading? I like your enthusiasm, it is pleasant.

Omg I understand the rant about the 2nd generation *coughBorutocough*. I already hate the ending of Naruto and it's just like rubbing the salt to my wound. Can we just cancel that series? I hate Boruto as the character, there is nothing about him that is entertaining enough for me to be willing to sit and read the manga.

Hi Merphy (and all!) Love your list, agree with much, and will try the one or two series I haven't already read. My only real disagree is Gentlemen Bastards. I tried it after hearing both you and Daniel Green praising it so. BUT. Such uncomfortable characters!, and I don't like heists-books. Had to put it down after listening to half of the first book in the series. 😂 so interesting how books can hit so differently with different people! ... anyways. Happy New Reading Year, and keep posting! Luv, Maria from south Sweden

I am one of those that started reading the Gentleman Bastards series because of you. It was, at first, a tough read. BUT you recently actually mentioned in a video that the reason why it may be tough for some is the flashbacks, which usually appear after cliff-hangers. I know that should have been obvious but, for me, it wasn't. With that in mind and because of your very contagious enthusiasm for the series I decided to give it another shot and I cannot put them down now. I am on Read Seas and loving it :)

Long time lurker to your bookish videos! So glad you have found some joy in Robin Hobb's writing this year - I know you didn't get on with the first assassin's trilogy. Having now gone through all the books in her world including the final trilogy which wraps everything up, that it has jumped to the absolute top of my all time favourites! Others on my list also include cosmere, beartown trilogy and lord of the wrings so we have a reasonable amount of crossover (with plenty of others in your top 10 in my TBR!). Thanks for always producing top tier book content
