Can't state enough how uninterested I am in AI performance. But I'm sure there are a lot of other people who could benefit from it. Especially in big corps.

You neglected to mention that the new AI from Intel will also be a huge leap forward for AI p0rn. No longer will incels need to pay LOnlyFans models w/ their hard earned cash but can now design and simulate in VR what ever sick twisted fantasy they want w/ the new AI. Intel is going to be making mad cash w/ 15th gen.

as rumor is gonna be on par and performance be equally as zen5 cores ...both will be tied in benchmarks ...not good news for either company but definite bad news for amd that shows non-SMT is kicking amd ass very hard that AMD SMT is finally showing its age...SMT days are very over for everyone, now entering split core architecture

Assuming there are enough cores, multi-core performance should increase without hyper-threading because you lose the command rate 2 overhead. So as long as you don't have to many threads then it should be great. Of course, without hyper-threading I think they really need 10 to 12 p-cores. I would like to see a high end arrow lake with 16 p-cores and 8 e-cores. Microsoft needs to fix it's cpu core parking logic in the scheduler. I think AMD will continue to beat intel on NPU and performance per watt just as they did before DDR3.

I honestly think we should at least get twice single core uplift for the loss of multi threads and perhaps a 30-50% multi core to see how that go could be a HUGE fail and maje amd finaly put the last nail in the coffin with its zen5

i have a 14700K and i disabled hyperthreading, result in better lows. I dont need that because with the e-cores i have 20 real threads. Also i run it at 5ghz + undervolt instead of 5.6ghz - much less heat (about 54°c while gaming at 1440p) near no difference in fps.

A lot of people talk as if Intel isn’t competitive, but they actually really are…they’ve just fallen marginally short of the performance crown in gaming their last four generations. It’s easy to forget with all the Intel fanboys coping, seething, and maulding so hard over it all the time, but even if Intel isn’t winning, they’re really only a few percent behind. We think this isn’t competition but it absolutely is. Heck we’re mostly giving Intel the short end of the narrative given Intel still takes some 80% of new domestic hardware CPU sales overall.

Importantly, if you remove stacked V-cache from the equation, core-to-core Intel’s architecture actually IS still somewhat better. So it wouldn’t shock me if Intel managed to gain an advantage in CPU-based AI in upcoming generations. And that’s probably a significant incentive for Intel to continue pursuing the GPU market as well.

Having said all that, Intel’s also throwing so much snake oil out there in recent years (ironic given their recent, quickly abandoned marketing slander against AMD), and cherry-picked benchmarks are the the rule rather than the exception for the ENTIRE industry…not just Intel. Any 3x claim almost always ends up being exactly that historically. Just like Intel keeps marketing 200% improvements in every other ARC driver release “for some games” but two years later ARC still lags behind where their power consumption and theoretical compute suggests they should be compared to Nvidia and AMD.

They both will be using TSMC with the same fab and node. So performance per watt can go out of the window and should be neck and neck..only superior architecture will outshine the other which I highly doubt AMD can manage. IPC is the product of architectural optimization and how many transistors you can pack in per core. So I'm betting on intel this time.

Intel - needs great coolers, needs amazing power supply, needs high quality mobo, needs faster ram to match performance, still runs hot

Amd - stock cooler gives 100% peeformance, cheap motherboard can run x3d because only 80watt, dont need fast ram because v cache mitigates the ram bottleneck, uses half the power for same gaming perxormance, cheaper cpu for same performance

Somehow intel fanbois find a way trash AMD and intel is faster. Ok guy.. go for it.

To be honest performance does not go linearly from there, so 17W mode, means they removed some inefficiency in LP mode, and it does not do much when your cpu is at 400W.
I would assume they can do what took previously 400W at about 300-350W.
don't get your hopes to high guys....

My man, haven't you gotten tired of amping up intel B.S yet? Intel was never great, and they've languished in outright suckery for years at this point. Arc was delayed by years, and while it has improved since launch it took too goddamn long to get to the middle.

Battlemage, likewise has been delayed, specs have been severely slashed and as MLID has recently reported on RDNA4 performance, unless intel is planning to launch their flagship for under $400, they're going to be in the same position that they're in now

Intel has failed to meet performance projections time and time again, despite delays being the norm instead of the exception, while the power envelope continues to be pushed to the stratosphere. Ryzen 9000, which will likely beat intel's new chip to market, has conservative estimates of 30% performance uplift.....and unlike intel, AMD has actually been meeting or beating those projections for the better part of a decade.....with fewer cores, at a fraction of the power consumption.

Idk if Intel doesn't stack l3 cache like the X3D chips and is like 10% faster in modern games, I'd still take the X3D variant which completely delete Intel in older games that are poorly threaded ie they were made when 2-4 cores was the norm. Also if intel is going to be faster it will likely still need double the power to do so which is a big fail.

Hyprthreading was causing esoteric security problems like side channel attacks exploiting speculative execution performance differences, it also costs die area for performance critical resources that makes less sense in an environment when you have more and more physical cores that could benefit from those resources (PC+instruction cache, Branch prediction, register stacks, L0 etc.) All the stuff you might prefer to expand an improve for best single core performance. Hyperthreading was introduced when consumer chips had one physical core, the Xeons that used it first had 4 cores.
