1973 she was 10th grade I was 11th. She was in a body cast for 4 months and I would visit every other day. My friend got out of the body cast and I would walk with her. A month later she was back in school and we shared a locker. Due to lack of PDA's on my part we split up. A month later she sliced her wrists... and lived. Me? I took up drinking... love lies bleeding in my hand was our favorite song. Peace to you L I drive by your old house everyday and wish you love
ОтветитьHe is playing this just as good ( if not better) 46 years later.
ОтветитьSorry, but no rap, hip hop or pop vocalist of today comes close... many have never touched a musical instrument
ОтветитьA true genius....
ОтветитьI saw him perform this in Michigan. Can't remember the venue, but I remember it was his opening song. The stage was covered with fog, and it didn't clear until he started playing. If you blink, you might miss one of his crazy performances. He's the best by far, the best performer I've ever seen! If my memory serves me right, Kiki Dee opened for him. If anyone knows this performance, hit me back. Thanks....Spike
ОтветитьI love watching these old performances and seeing how insane his energy is throughout his younger years.
ОтветитьElton's finest hour by far.
ОтветитьA remarkable piece of work created by passionate geniuses. As a musician, I'm in awe.
Ответить:-)
Ответитьwow - ray cooper had hair? Who'd have ever thought :) - wait a second - I had hair then too
ОтветитьRay Cooper never changes... he's always creepy looking!!!
ОтветитьCrazy good!
ОтветитьA couple of observations:
1 - Davey Johnstone, one of the greatest unsung rock guitarists of all time, never gets any justice in the live mix. Ever. He should be right up front, but is buried, always. Must be one hell of a paycheck.
2 - Ray Cooper is one seriously creepy dude.
this song is stuck in my audio memory... but at least its a great song to keep hearing over and over in my mind...
ОтветитьGoddam Elton John was one talented son of a bitch. I was informed Elton is still alive....ooops. i have edited out my error. He is still an incredibly talented musician...Hopefully he lives to be 100+ LOL !
ОтветитьGod bless you 🙏 ❤️ sorry for your loss
ОтветитьO ET KIL MAH TO THANK OFFA YOU WITHUH NUTHA MEHN
ОтветитьI heard the bell tolling for the first time in a cave lit by hundreds of Candles for Halloween in the FoD.
Through a smoke screen came a procession of skeletons carry in a coffin followed by black angels ...
The coffin was set down in the middle of a stone floor and all the procession started to walk in two formed circles the inner skeletons clockwise and the outer black angels anticlockwise ...
The skeletons lifted the lid and a flash went off as a naked body dressed in a white see through baby doll negligee ........
smeared with red like blood stains .... she started to rise and writhe in the coffin ...
The dancing turned into an orgy of skeletons and black angels ...... it was something to witness ...
At first scary and then utterly wild ... Absolutely Amazing ...
I can still see it today and when this plays the hairs on the back of my neck rise and the shivers down my back still come .........
As I relive Elton's Funeral for a Friend ...........
Classic!! ❤
ОтветитьWhat a great sound, this was my first EJ concert aged 16, and about to see my last EJ concert, I cried back in 1977 when he said it was his last. No doubt I will shed a tear this year. Thank you Elton for 50 great years of watching you live.
ОтветитьRay Cooper is a master
ОтветитьGoodbye Yellow brick road is one of the best albums of all time
ОтветитьFreaking Fantastic!
Ответитьen mi opinion creo qe se pierde magia cuando ponen las manos de tecladista tmbn ahi
ОтветитьI've watched this video over and over. Great performance!
ОтветитьRay Cooper, who did this guy sleep with to get this gig. I've heard him multiple times with Elton John. Not very good, more theatrics than anything else. Terrible percussionist, wouldn't last 10 minutes with a salsa band.
Ответитьgreat performance from when he could still hit the high notes. A bit rushed though
ОтветитьThank you so much for posting this. The best performance of this song I've seen.

ОтветитьSo does the chicken 325 and she ain't nothing like love
ОтветитьHe used to play this to open his concert it is electrifying
ОтветитьSo sorry for your loss may they rest in peace
ОтветитьElton at his very best, performing perhaps his greatest song. What more can you ask for!
ОтветитьI was never a rabid Elton John fan, finding most of his music a bit too pop. But even as a teenager when I was most into hard rock and then punk, I knew that Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was a special album. The first four songs - "Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding", "Candle In the Wind", "Bennie and the Jets" and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" - have to be the greatest opening set for any album ever. This performance is incredible.
Rock on!
that my friends is what a true music prodigy is
ОтветитьA Master At Work
ОтветитьThis is the greatest concert opener in the history of..... ever.
ОтветитьElton John has always been great. This song is a masterpiece.
Ответитьthank you so very much for posting this treasure !
ОтветитьElton's does this song awesome in year 2000 at madison square gardens..the best ever most powerful version in my opinoin.
ОтветитьGreatest live song ever………..
ОтветитьPerspective on this rock and and roll from
“Goodbye yellow brick road never matched or duplicated”. Timeless
Great live version. Sorry Elton, you sounded a lot better in the 70s.
ОтветитьDidn't like the "funeral" bit at all but loved the second "bleeding" bit.
ОтветитьTakes a while to get to the song, doesn't it?
ОтветитьThis was the warm up song in my Walkman (that's right, Walkman) at National Championships when I was in grade 9. Builds slow and gets rocking!
Great memories!!
Dynamic performance!
ОтветитьBest guitar riff ever....shame it's barely in the mix at all
