give it 3 or 5 years and this tech will be minimalistic enough to be usable by anyone on the market, if you can foot the bill.

I was born with hydrocephalus in 1965. An attack in 2012 left me with 70% dead optic nerve cells. The Biopic Eye would help me, but I would have to wait until the tech got a lot better.

Wouldn't we lose all of our visual memories with an artificial eye? The neurons that transmit the visual information will be different from the ones that originally created the memory in the first place. The brain wouldn't know how to connect that new data to your old memories stored in the brain. So something you have no other sensory memory of other than vision could be lost forever. Kinda scary actually.

If we use pair of eye glass of thick lense focus image into 3 d hologram at the center of the blind person's brain or at his Corona aurora on top of his head then most likely he may see like normal eyes

This tech seems to be focused on people who lose the ability to transmit via the optic nerve not really focused on retinal issues.

What if you showed all the colours to a patient with a functional eye and mapped all the signals from the optic nerve for each colour. And then when we implant a bionic eye when it receives the spectre of light it relays the exact same signal as the original eye.
Obviously we would have to have our brain/eye signals mapped before we had any blindness

What I don't get is how is it that they can make a bionic eye that can see to some degree but we can't make it look good? Like, you'd think the hard part would be getting visual data to the brain but we can do that already.

Hello there. I am 55 years old. I have retinitis pigmentosa‘s. My eyes are gradually degraded. Now I can’t see almost nothing at all. Just some weird blurry oranges shadows on the edges of my eyes. Someone reached out to me with the program Argus. It sounded very primitive to me. I would like to have a bionic eye that I would be able to see again. Perhaps drive again. Be able to read Books. Go fishing. Ride a bicycle. All that good stuff! I have no idea what my grandkids look like. Nor my new wife? Hopefully, someday a real working bionic eye would be made for us blind people.

I have no problem with something like glasses with cameras and AI and such, or just AI on a phone, I use AI technology frequently. but as a blind person myself, when we start talking implants and such that's when I say no, the tech may be incredible but its not for me. I am ok with wearable tech, I am ok with things in smartphones but not implants personally.

Right after my 10th birthday, I was diagnosed with brain cancer. After the initial procedure to remove the tumor, doctors determined that my brain fluid was having trouble draining and decided I needed a shunt. I could see just fine, though I did wear glasses. However, when I woke up from the surgery, I couldn’t see you at all. Being able to see before going to sleep, only to wake up, not being able to see you at all is a total Nightmare. I had to relearn pretty much how to live life without vision. Despite going through the cancer treatment, which is extremely rough for anyone, especially a child, but losing my vision is probably the most traumatic for me. Becoming completely blind, was also not one of the initial possible effects of the shunt placement, surgery, and the surgeons/doctors/nurses were fairly confused. However, their equipment was old and outdated. Doctors initially determined that due to the pressure of the tumor, it’s removal, and all the other stress going on at the time, my optic nerve gave out and shut down. I am now 20, and being completely blind, is still very hard to cope with. The way I have re-learned the skills for life while coping with blindness, I just can’t stand not being able to see the world around me anymore. I have prayed to God many times that my vision will be restored, so that way I can see the world around me, my family, and my little sister. Dare I say, in comparison, life feels like the matrix. Though I am living in reality, and I know things are real, it doesn’t feel real, and I am really in a false world because I cannot see and what I’ve been through. Hearing about all of the procedures to restore fission in the blind has made me hopeful that a possibility will come up for me as well. So far that I’ve seen, most of the procedures, or therapies to restore vision in the blind, usually come from illness, disease, or brain trauma, whereas my cost for blindness came from damage to the optic nerve itself (so far as I know). I’ve only been to the optometrist once, and even then, the guy was incredibly rude and told my mother, she should not have brought me, because there was no point in him seeing me. However, I am currently working with my therapist to try and uncover some answers about what truly happened to my optic nerve, and if it can be corrected. We’re going to talk with my cancer team, and possibly talk to some neurosurgeons at the hospital I am with. I also have my first I appointment in years in August, and I am incredibly nervous. It is a different eye doctor than the one previously mentioned, and they are going to take a deeper. Look to see if the effects can be reversed, and (hopefully) restore my vision. I really hope we are able to find out what happened, find a cure, and I will continue to pray that this is a possibility. I am very excited in the current medical research and development that has taken place over the past decade. I hope research will continue, and other blind people can have faith And have their vision restored
