ОтветитьThank you so much for this - and for all - your thoughtful videos. I imagine you have put MUCH work into each of them, and we all benefit greatly!
ОтветитьIt's interesting to me that three of the greatest painters were Dutch from different eras. Bruegel, Vermeer and Van Gogh. There were others of course, but these 3 stand put for me as I have jigsaw puzzles from each artist as well as dozens of others. My houseis a jigsaw puzzle museum of a sort.
ОтветитьBeautiful explanation, so thorough. I was riveted. I love Vermeer's work. A phenomenal artist. Thank you for this information. 🩷🩷🙂
ОтветитьInteresting! I just read a short book about Vermeer and still learned new things here 😃
ОтветитьReally enjoying the videos, any chance on some preRaphaelite action, ideally
Strayed Sheep! Thanks
he was just that good
Ответить"Propaganda" you said... Why is everything they say against God and the church? Today everything we see is propaganda of evil.
ОтветитьNo doubt he used optical tools to help create his wonderful paintings. But, who really cares?! He captured tone and mood wonderfully, his work was stunning. His craftsmanship was exemplary. He was a master of his technique.
ОтветитьThese are fantastic videos. Thank you for producing them.
Ответитьit is something inevitable to feel palpitation during viewing his paintings, ive been on 2hrs long movie about his works, saw them in real life and yet still get incredibly excited when seeing them. its such a pity that his genius was discovered only recently- but the thought that we know only some of his paintings leave me hoping to find more of them and learn through them! thank you for such inspiring video, im trully thrilled!
ОтветитьI love 17th century Dutch painting. Jan Steen and Gabriel Metsu are definitely favorites, but there is something exquisitely captivating about Vermeer. I was recently at the Met in NY, looking at their Dutch collection not paying attention to the names, just enjoying the paintings, and occasionally my breath would catch. And I looked at the label and each time it was a Vermeer. But there's just something so captivating in the simplicity of The Milkmaid and The Girl with the Pearl Earring that causes them to stand out as masterpieces even among his ouvre.
ОтветитьVeeeeeeemeeeeeerrrrr
ОтветитьI need a channel just like this but for photography ❤❤
ОтветитьWowwww
ОтветитьHow can I send you the photo of the painting?
ОтветитьI have this painting with me
ОтветитьThanks!
Ответить❤️
ОтветитьYou can tell that Vermeer's paintings were all painted in the same corner of his studio, lit by the window on the left hand side and the lighting color is always the same.Thank you for your observations.I just saw other paintings bt Vermeer that were not posed in his studio,so The earlier comment is not all exclusive
I am writing this at the time of the WGA strike in protest of streaming and AI so it is ironic that "artificial " means to attain a piece of art are being examined.
There’s no role book for what is cheating and what’s not cheating in art
ОтветитьBrilliant. That final line is a pure truth.
ОтветитьJust fantastic! Thank you so much for this lecture!
ОтветитьGreat art doesn't need to be explained. That's what makes it great. It's the shit art the needs explanation.
ОтветитьThanks How interesting! Love Vermeer, and your video taught me many things that I didn't know.
Eleanor in DC
Please never stop these videos they’re so amazing
ОтветитьThanks for another illuminating analysis.
I so enjoyed it, and learned a lot.
Wow!
Whitherto have we gone?
Listen to Prem Rawat!
Last year, I planned an Art Crawl travel itinerary around some countries in Europe. The first museum I visited was the Rijks. I would say that seeing the Milkmaid in person was my first spiritual/emotional experience with art. I was so moved by the painting that I was trying to hold back tears. I didn't understand why I was so drawn in to this painting. Maybe, it was the details or the depth. But it could also be the quietness of it. The kind of quiet that means solitude.
ОтветитьEnlightening
ОтветитьA great video in every aspect, thank you so much!
... am I the only one to think that the blue fabric above her arm looks ... wrong? I'm curious: Is this a detail nobody talks about because it's so obvious and not even worth stating explicitly or is only my vision distorted?
ok, back to work 😅
amazing! thank you for the hard and extreamly professional work you are doing for free
Spectacular!
One question: toward the end, you mention links to some of your other videos that relate to this one. I don't see them. Could you provide those links?
informative, engaging commentary on a masterpiece by one of the greatest artists. The scholarly tone of the commentator adds an additional layer of pleasure which has a charm-like effect on the viewer.
Thanks for this wonderful video.
This is a profound introduction to the work of Vermeer whose work is now so famous but was lost in obscurity during his lifetime. . The historical setting for his work and family life are explained in perfect detail also the techniques of perspective, use of colour and detail and we are left to question if he used a camera obscura or not . Well done another excellent piece on James Payne 's innovative channel.
ОтветитьThis channel is #1 for art history and appreciation.
ОтветитьIn 1995 I acquired six admission tickets for the National Gallery's exhibit. I used them on six different Thursdays, never leaving until closing time. In May I'll be in Amsterdam, expecting to again be there till closing time.
ОтветитьGirl with the pearl earrings...
ОтветитьVermeer. A. True. Inspiration. A vision in Art
ОтветитьLoved every minute of the explanation of these great paintings.
ОтветитьI've wanted an outfit like her's for years. Thank you for talking about it.
ОтветитьThank you making this perfect video. Each painting is labelled and every sentence is filled with information.
