The REAL Loudoun Hill - and a battle that changed EVERYTHING

Loudon Hill, in Ayrshire, is a volcanic plug that dates back 300 million years, and has seen a lot of history.

Iron Age people settled here. The Romans built a for. William Wallace is said to have fought here but perhaps the most pivotal moment was a battle that would determine the country we live in today.

In the year 1307, during the first War of Scottish Independence, Robert the Bruce took on an army led by Aymer de Valence in the shadow of Loudoun Hill.

The battle would arguably pave the way for Bannockburn, and Bruce's ultimate victory.
