When you are doing calculations to make your hypotheticals, don't forget to figure in taxes. They can take a large chunk. That said, you are still probably better off selling and repurchasing rather than hodling through the Bear. Also, if selling and reinvesting on the wsy up in thevbull, it is a good idea to set aside the taxes. Reinvesting the tax money may seem like a good idea, but it can easily end in disaster. Don't play with government money.

This strategy is very risky… if it pumps and you sell 30k worth and reinvest it and then it completely flops, that initial sell will trigger a capital gains event and then you owe the tax man at least 1/3 of that 30k. If it never goes back up you lose all that money and end up with a massive tax bill.
