The crazy thing about luxury brands is that the HIGHER they price them, the more desirable they become. Mike Amiri jeans are $1500. A Hermes Birkin bag can be $200,000 easy. Balenciaga sneakers are mostly made in Chinese factories and can run $1000-$1500. It is ALL profit. None of these things have any more intrinsic value than stuff from Target but the percieved value is from the imagr you portray to the world. I belive that umbrella really is $60,000. If you are familiar with the Indigo Traveller, he recently went to South Sudan where the people literally live in rusty roofed shacks with dirt floors and have nothing. There are whole massive city blocks where people where used throwaway clothing. don't have indoor plumbing and their sole transportation is their legs and a throwaway bicycle and here is Volkswagen asking $60,000 to replace an umbrella and doing it with a straight face. Same with the $100,000 handbags. The Western world has no concept of how fortunate they are--and that it is all luck that you were born here and not South Sudan, or the ghettos of Liberia, Rio, Santiago or Lima.
