Installing Windows on External SSD on a Mac

Can I pass some of the parallels windows application to my ssd like the windows 11 applications or do i keep them in my mac?

when did you configure that you are going to download it in external not to internal ? You dont mention this in the video.

Thank you for a great video! I was wondering if it’s possible to use the external ssd on two Macs. For example I have an iMac at home and a MacBook Air M2, can I plug in the ssd on my air when I’m at uni and then plug it in the iMac when I’m home? Would I have to download Parallels on both Macs?

Hey Kevin i need a laptop for my ai major next year so i am leaning on macbook air m1 or m1 pro both with 16 gb ram, is it possible to install linux (ubuntu)and windows parralell into a external ssd ? or is it better to get a 500 gb storage version... bcuz it would save me around 800 euros if i went with the m1 air 16 gb instead of m1 14 inch ...... realllyy helpfull video 👍👍

1) What Windows version would I need if I am on an Intel chip Mac?
2) If I am putting everything on an SSD, in theory I can run the windows partitions on all of my Macs in my house, correct?

Thanks for the info. I have installed windows 11 virtual machine on my external hard drive. But when I run windows 11 and try to install games it shows hard disk space only 60gb, which is my MacBook internal storage . Why is that ?

I have two really quick questions....do you have to pay for Windows if you use the insider link and if I am not using a SSD External drive or will that create a lag of any type being that it is not SSD? Hello, I just watched your video and found it very useful however I have different reasons to install windows into my mac as I am an architecture student and I need to use software that is not on mac os. I just wanted to ask if this is a good way to use heavy software like Rhino (3D software) and does the external SSD (windows) function just like the actual deal? please do reply I'm kinda stuck and I don't want to spend more to just get a new device.

Can an ISO of Windows 10 be used with that method?

My SSD doesn't show (a Samsung 1TB) I formatted it in many ways but it is NOT visible to Parallels, please let me know what I'm doing wrong (I own parallels). I was offered the img file option but I don't know what to do at this point. I'm on Mojave, Intel Mac mini 3ghz.

Great vid! my parallels automatically installs onto my internal harddrive, it doesn't give me the option to choose where to install. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times no luck, do you have any advice for this?

Boss, if I download and install windows in my external ssd do I still need to allocate Ram to my window or this only happens if I download it internally. Aka can I use utilize full 8 Gb of my ram in both windows on external ssd and native Mac OS on M1 Mac mini.

Wow what a video thank u so much. So i just got the air m1 16gb of ram and it is amazing. Im thinking to do this just help me a bit. I download parallels and the app stays on the internal ssd but then windows and the windows apps will stay on the external ssd right? I mean games that are like 70gb etc bs i dont want my internal ssd to be quickly full. And then every time i need to be on windows i just conect the external ssd and run parallels? Thank u

So just be clear you are running the vm on the external drive but using the ram on the Mac ?
And all the files I crated on windows will on the external drive or the Mac ?
