From my experience, no. Once, I tried installing Kaspersky after installing windows 11 on unsupported hardware (i7-6700, so very capable of running win 11), i restarted, and BOOM! Bricked, so I had to reinstall windows 11 again. Same thing later on, but i just restarted.

These system requirements are entirely anti consumer

You are right that people are reluctant to change, but in my personal opinion Microsoft did mess up with Windows 8 & 10. Windows 8 was clear, people just didn't like it. Windows 10 wasn't great, because it had two ways to change settings Settings & Control Panel. What's the point in having both? Choose one and group all your configurations together. I personally also don't like the layout of start that much. On the plus side for Win10 powershell is much better than command prompt.

I installed Win11 on an originally Win7 computer, it works. I don't get the message on the screen though.

I've just installed it on my unsupportedi 7 laptop. Frankly it's horrible, so I've restored it back to Windows 10

They don't recommend the switch to Win 11 in unsupported hardware, because Win 11 use more resources. If you release a new software, and you allow being run in low-end PCs (most people have old PCs) the performance will be poor and then your software will be deemed as terrible when it is more a hardware issue. I was hesitant to install it on my backup PC (an i3-6100) and I was shocked to see that I have had zero issues (so far) whenever I use that PC in my bedroom. Now I can enjoy the Win 11 UI on both, my studio and bedroom PCs :)

My family has more than 50 "non-supported" computers. What are we suppose to do...go out and buy 50 more? We are switching to Linux. We will keep a few of them on windows and "jury-rig" them.

I have already upgrade my home MSI gaming pc to Windows 11 Pro 22H2 and my office ROG gaming pc to Windows 11 Home 22H2 and all my games load much faster and much smoother then my previous Windows 10 Pro 22H3

People that brag know the least, The issue is how many decades old computers do they have to make the drivers work for, its not that old computer wont work, problem is the drivers , it works but things are glitchy i have found, because drivers are not written for windows 11 on old hardware and never will be.

People are going to switch to win 12 once windows 10 is unsupported. Just like people moved to windows 7 and shipped Vista when win xp was unsupported. The same way that people switched to windows 10 after win7 expired.

I don't think Microsoft will do anything at all. Latest figure is that still 71% of the PC's are on Windows 10 very much to the sorrow of MS as they had expected better. Even a serious chunk is running below Windows 10! And industry will do a massive spending of $$$ buying new machines overnight? It ain't going to happen.

I like Windows 10. So, other than the updates issue post 2025, is there any reason to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware? From what I see, it's not any better or worse to run the software you're currently running on 10. I just think it will take more system resources away. I know RAM requirements are a little bit higher on 11. From my experience, everytime I upgrade to a new version of Windows, I get less out of the hardware.

Windows 11 is not for (OLD) PC because with telemetry uses almost 4gb of ram doing nothing.... Only for widgets... News, weather, local, etc etc

Windows 11 brings so many pre install programs, that should be free! Dose company's pay to Microsoft and they charge the key...

Win 11 demands TPM2.0 capable processors to properly run the Security 'features' that Microssoft wnat s to push.
Frankly I'm still annoyed that I upgraded from 64 bit EXP pro.
Win 10 proved as NO improvement that i've yet seen .
Unlikely Win 11 is any real life improvement over Win 10.

drives me nuts when ppl, say linux is only for tech savy my moms windows computer craped out like 10-15 years ago i got her on mint she knows nothing about computers she was fine no issues she is 92 now and still using mint just fine

I'm sorry to say, but you shouldn't install it on unsupported hardware. The reason: it is expected that MS will edit the Win11 core (Kernel) & remove the unsupported processors.

If this happens, you won't be able to install Win11 even with Rufus making flash drive. Bcz all the old processor chips support have been removed from the OS.

Today 8.8.2023, with the help of the shop expert, my another DELL e7440 i7 4600u 16GB with 【TPM 1.2】 unsupported laptop had a 【NEW installation】 to Win 11 pro on a
NEW 512GB mSATA SSD, sitting on the small slot next to the M.2 SSD(HDD) with Win 10 Pro on it .( I prefer to keep win10 in case win11 not stable or crash ).
This e7440 have 2 SSD and 2 Win on it, and can boot up differently to Win10 or to Win11 by【F12 key】. Currently Win 11 【v21H2 OS is 22000.2245】 after few update. Still
need some update to v22H2 . So far so GOOD ! 。。。。。。。。I am happy with it ! 。。。。。。。。。。。。👍👍👍👍👍👍

If using unsupported hardware is stopping automatic updates then using unsupported hardware would be a great to stop automatic updates. 😅

My 2016 top line DELL is "unsupported" but works better on 11 vs 10. I had to turn OFF updates to stop new issues!

Your title was three words to long. It should have said "Should You Install Windows 11?". End of sentence And the answer for SO many reasons is NO. Either install Win10 or move to Linux/Mac. But Win11 is nothing but crap glued together with chewing gum and baling wire with all the features you want removed and tons of crap (including SO much bloatware/trackingware) added. It doesn't matter what version yo get either. Pay for the Pro version of Windows and you STILL get Roblox and Candy Crush (or other worthless games) forced on you.

I will stay on Win10 until either Microsoft fixes Win11's problems with a Win12 release or I'll move to Linux.

I just spent some small money(USD26) to a tech shop to upgrade my DELL 【e5570 i7 6600u】with TPM 1.2 to Win 11 Pro, Ver 22H2, OS 22621.2070 on 30 Jul 2023.
It looked simple, the guy took out an USB stick, format my M.2 SSD, installed win 11, did some modifications to the system here and there, boot / restart / update 。。。。。。

I installed win11 using rufus. It does all the hacks for you no need to mess with config files manually. I dont use it much but it does run on my HP z230 workstation.

The real reason they have made this requirement is because the OEMs have pushed MS to do so because we have reached the plateau with no real need for an average user to upgrade 10-15 years old laptop unless it breaks. Like for real i'd say as low as 2nd gen intel is perfecty fine for most of the users

Yes, it works like a charm on 4th gen intel. There is no reason to trash it just because the MS wants you to waste money upgrading perfectly fine pc. Its a nonsense, even i3 4th gen would be enough but I run 16c 32c 3.6GHz 4th gen xeon, it's probably 4 times faster than your average brand new laptop i5 xD

I would say if people are technical enough to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware they are also technical enough to install Linux.

I think many Windows users would be fine with something like Linux Mint (especially with older hardware).
With Valve's push for gaming on Linux most gamers would probably also be satisfied. Presumably even more so as we are nearing the end of Windows 10 support.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 are crap! They still like other versions of Windows all the way back to 3.01 leave tons of things unfinished or introduce new concepts that they then abandoned or neglect. Quality Control and Security are a joke. The saddest thing is people that say it is not that bad!!! It is bloatware!!! If not, then explain how Android OS does so much with so little hardware and software. At the very least, stop hiding and moving features (7 made sense) and stop changing the Graphic interface, stop renaming, stop moving things, stop changing menu flow. PEOPLE JUST WANT TO GET WORK DONE WHICH IS NORMALLY AN APPLICATION PROGRAM, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE OS!!!
For most people, Mint Linux and LibreOffice is the way to go. I am down to one program that needs windows - sadly, the company will not port it to Linux, maybe because of the Nvidia Graphic Render Engine used.

i read you are able to update your unsupported windows 11 21h2 to 22h2 by simply downloading the iso of 22h2, make it bootable with rufus and open the setup.exe in windows self. do not boot from it.
