Outstanding job, thanks for the efforts. Couple of suggestions for the novice boaters, not you guys, but there are books relating to rules of the road. Good stuff that you folks found out by experience. Speed, passing, locks and other need to know items are helpful. As an ex Navy flyer, the Battleship near Charleston is an aircraft carrier (Yorktown). The hint is airplanes are on the flight deck, Battleships do not have more than one or two birds, with a catapult to get them airborne. Choppers work well also. It was an enjoyable video, thanks for the memories......
ОтветитьYacht? Not by Russian oligarch standards!
ОтветитьThis was an awesome video. Really enjoyed watching your journey. I have a 2018 Monterey 295 SY. If I had twin engines and a bit more room like yours I would definitely try a similar trip.
ОтветитьLol Charles Town? Battleships? Had me laughing a few times. I still can't get over the fuel consumption.
Great video. I live in Myrtle Beach. Didn't realize the action the ICW had. TY!
calls an aircraft carrier a battleship lmao
ОтветитьTime to do the loop.
ОтветитьDid you use an App to help you find marinas with fuel?
ОтветитьWhat part of Staten Island did you grow up in I grew up in Great kills I had a boat on The mooring in Great kills harbor what wonderful memories
ОтветитьLooks cold. FYI, US Navy doesn’t have battleships anymore.
ОтветитьI liked your video very informative. But not every navel ship is q battle ship..lol. hopefully i will start my boat trip next year.
ОтветитьThey aren't battleships they are aircraft carriers
ОтветитьIt's the INTRAcoastal waterway.
ОтветитьThat's Verrazano bridge...not George Washington bridge 😊
ОтветитьIf you go to close to a war ship you could get C wized...
ОтветитьJust FYI, the ICW is the "Intracoastal Waterway". An Intercoastal Waterway would extend from the East coast to the West Coast.
ОтветитьHi I’m from mass I would like to know how did you get your lisence ? and how do you get gas by the sea?
ОтветитьThanks for taking the time to share your trip with us. I found it very entertaining & interesting from your perspective as a novice & traveling in a somewhat unconventional type boat for that trip. I've lived on a lake most of my life & have been looking into the small yacht traveling thing. Your trip really opened my eyes about why most people prefer larger & slower boats for doing the loop and the ICW. I really enjoyed your novice commentary, since I think in the same terms. A big gray metal military looking boat's a "battleship" to me too. <grin> It's funny how many people bothered to correct you, as if it "mattered". Getting the name of a bridge wrong sure ruffled some feathers too, lol! And you'd better not call the joints that drain your credit card to refill your gas tank a "gas station". You weren't pretending to be seasoned lifelong sailors or experts, so I'm not sure why some thought they needed to "school" you over it.
ОтветитьSorry, am I missing something? Video says RI to FL, I see start as NY? I may be doing a trip from RI or Sag Harbor to Miami, so from RIwoyld be great help! Do you hav3 to stay on the outside the entire way from NY to Maryland? Thanks for your help!
ОтветитьGreat video. I live right on the Manasquan River in NJ and always wandered about the ICW. I think you can start it in the Point Pleasant Canal (NJ, right by the Manasquan inlet) which takes you into the Barnegat Bay & then stay ICW the entire way. And not to be a dick & nitpick but there hasn't been a battleship since since 1992 and the "battleship" in SC is actually and aircraft carrier (USS Yorktown which is now a museum).
ОтветитьWOW! That was great. I always wanted to know what it's like to travel to Florida in the way you did it. Seeing the NYC coastline got me nostalgic. I use to always look up and look for the Twin Towers to know where I was at whenever I was downtown. I'm one of those who skip all over the video back and forth and realize I missed something lol and have to go back and see what it was.
ОтветитьAwesome video
ОтветитьVerrazano Bridge not gw
ОтветитьThat'sIntracoastal Waterway, not intercostal
ОтветитьThey tore down the landing in Jacksonville FL
Ответитьjust buy first 33 feet boat my first boat i have to bring to Miami please need advise
ОтветитьI loved this video. Thank you for taking time to document and upload. I know its 2 years old, but I watched it because I'm considering a similar trip. I do have a question I wonder if you would comment on... As you came south from New York, and then into New Jersey, you mentioned you ended up in Ocean City, Maryland for the night. You then say you left ocean city and traveled in very big waves "in the Chesapeake" and that there were almost no gas stations. Did you in fact go south out of Ocean City and travel in the Atlantic (not Chesapeake) - in which case you would hit big waves and yes - there are almost no fuel stops. OR did you go north out of OC, up to the C&D canal, and then down into the Chesapeake - in which case there's fuel every 1/2 mile. :) I'm planning to go north out of OC, even though its much farther as I do want to travel the entire Chesapeake. Thanks for clarifying.
ОтветитьLiving the dream man. Very cool
Ответить“INTRACOASTAL”
ОтветитьJust found your channel 👍
Being in St.Louis . Missouri and being the Mississippi River....
I always wanted to go for the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico Via the Mississippi River.
Nice trip guys. I'm no boater but less than 1 mile per gallon?
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this great adventure!
However I resent your your usage of "battleship" for any military ship.
There are some MAJOR geographical mistakes in the descriptions. You passed under the Verrazano bridge out of NYC, not the George Washington.
You were never on the Chesapeake Bay if you stopped in Ocean City MD (unless you went 50 miles north again).
I gave up watching after that.
I agree with just do it I've done it on a 31ft slick craft in 1990 was an amazing experience and time great video
ОтветитьI'm not sure what type of naval vessel you saw, but the US Navy no longer has any active duty battleships. The last active duty battleship was decommissioned on March 31, 1992.
Ответитьdo you think a 21’ runabout could make this trip? Or should a 21’ runabout even try to make this trip?
I’m docked on Lake Saint Clair, wanting to go from Michigan to Florida.
Fantastic. Thank you.
ОтветитьHoly shit! I knew boats used a lot of gas, but less than a mile per gallon just seems ridiculous. That can't be normal, is it?
ОтветитьFully enjoyed your video. Your friendly tone and attitude, along with the great information about your trip kept the presentation interesting all the way. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
ОтветитьWhat kind of captain doesn't know the difference between a battleship and an aircraft carrier
ОтветитьEXCELLENT video. Congrats on completing the trip. "To the journey!" (cheers)👍
Ответитьgreat stuff...did you guys trailer the boat back to RI?
ОтветитьThat was the Verrazano narrows bridge leaving nyc.. The GWB is at the northern tip of manhattan.
ОтветитьThese seem like nice guys. Too bad they didn’t know what shitty quality boats Monterey makes! They are just garbage. Poor quality parts from bow to stern.
ОтветитьPretty cool video. I like that you did the totals at the end, however, with the inflation we've had since Biden got in there, the gas prices would be astronomical. I was thinking of the best boat for that as I was watching. I'd take an old Grand Banks 42 classic. Of course, depending on the year, that could be expensive, or as low as $199,000. Or any similar aft cabin model. You have two main cabins, separated by the salon, giving you more privacy. I'm sure it got a bit cramped in the cabin of the express. Good video!
ОтветитьIt’s not Charlestown it’s Charleston
ОтветитьI hope you can afford to drive it back to R I at 7.00 dollars a gal
ОтветитьThere is no active battleships, it was a carrier
Ответить
