The episode really shows why you shouldn't judge an actor by the characters they play. Tim spent his career portraying a blue collar working man who builds and tinkers. In real life knows nothing about the car he owns other than it is rare and looks good. It is clear he doesn't even know HOW to drive it since Jay almost instantly knows how to get the most out of a car that Tim thinks barely works. lol

This episode should be called, Two Friends Breakin' Balls & Driving.

Horrible car, but interesting to see two very accomplished entertainers on camera together. They both know how and the importance to treat dead air, non-responses, and keep the interest of the viewer. Their natural abilities in this built two different empires. Neither need be subservient to the other, so you can feel the stand-up comedian rivalry, and they're both fast. I think Jay is funny to see as a sweet guy, but then something sharp comes from his mouth faster than most of us with a regular thought. Tim Allen = Lion; Jay Leno = Lion Trapper

I love these two guys but in this video clearly they have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. In fact, it feels like they're doing it deliberately - like it's a parody of an episode of Jay Leno's garage. What it does highlight is just how American's have no concept that there are countries other than the USA. The contempt American's show for the rest of the world is staggering. A typical American's knowledge and research outside the States is at best, bare minimum. If they can't shoot it, bomb it and pillage the natural resources they aren't interested.

The gap is called turbo lag tim, its a rally car. They knew that the intended driver knew how to drive. Thats why it revs high, it has a large turbo. To get performance from it, you have to keep the revs high, not really a problem when youre throwing it flat out around a rally circuit. How can you own a car like that and not know the basics?! This world is fked! It gives luck and money to a lot of utter morons and yet those who know how to appreciate things, will never have them to appreciate. Yesterday in the UK there was a news story about a couple who have just won £2 million on the lottery but they arent going to quit work. So 2 jobs that people who need money cant have, while we have two morons who cant figure out a way to turn £2 million into 4. They dont deserve to have won that money, there are people out there that would take that money and use it to have an incredible life but not these clowns, no they wana stick with their 9 to 5's and just enjoy knowing that money is sat in their bank doing nothing, as inflation eats away at it faster than the 0.1% interest you get from UK banks tops it up. Sensible pair of undeserving tossers............ Rant over!

One of my employers was a former rally driver and had a racing version of the RS200. I always thought this car looked a bit weird but he let me drive it once and the clutch was hell. At the time I hadn't had a driving licence for long and stalled the car so often. But the looks on people's faces when the flames came out of the exhaust were worth it.

Fibreglass bodies was made by Reliant in Tamworth who used to make Fibreglass cars in the day.

Jeez dude, it's a rally car. You see how they drive them? There are no traffic lights for this thing. They ain't driven in cities. There is nothing happening below 5k in a rally.

Dual disc clutch from this era is a smaller diameter clutch. To gain area, there are 2 of them one each side of the pressure plate if i recall correctly

My guess is that they didnt bother giving any HP under 3k because its useless on dirt roads. The only thing you do in rally is gun it as hard as you can to bite into the loose terrain.

Hmm. Grew up watching tool time. Guess tim Allen only know 383 and Holley 4barrels. It is called turbo lag. That’s why there is no power down low. The small motor really dosnt have the torque until that huge turbo is spinning. Puegot I think twin boosted. SC for low end and turbo for high end. I admit the rs200 is my favorite group b cars. This video just was not good unfortunately.
