Even if George Martin had been given a song-writing credit for some of his collaborations with (contributions to) the Beatles, he would probably have been under a contract under which all of his song-writing royalties would have been signed over in exchange for his agreed salary. But that doesn't mean he wasn't fairly rewarded. The first time his contract came up for renewal, Martin was in a good position to say "Either I get rich off this group or you get someone else to be their producer/arranger/collaborator and you'll be rolling the dice on whether that person will make you the money I've made you. Sure, The Beatles will always make hit records, but they'll be SMALLER hits if you don't use me. It's worth it to you to pay me what you must pay me to keep me from walking out." He could EVEN HAVE ASKED FOR PERCENTAGES on records that sold very well. And it'd be in the record-company's interests to offer him those points to motivate him to do his best. If Martin wasn't working under contract but just an "at-will" job, then in the U.S.A. at least he'd have had the right to ask for a raise and quit INSTANTLY if he didn't get it. Finally, his price for all of his OUTSIDE work would have gone through the roof because of his Beatles' notoriety. If the man didn't get rich off the Beatles, it's simply because he never made the effort to leverage the vast sums he could easily have leveraged just by negotiating.

You forgot to add the stealth Hammond RT-3 organ Martin added to John's Rickenbacker guitar to help produce that incrediblly bizarre tone on "I Want to Hold Your Hand" which is to this day, a hotly debated topic but I asked Martin about 15 years ago and he answered via email with a surprising, "Its possible I added keys to that recording but its hard to recall for sure".

Actually it was McCartney who played the harpsichord on "Fixinng a Hole" and the reason that it's a fact, is due to hearing the outtakes of FAH on the remixed Sgt. Pepper box set where the early takes clearly feature Paul on harpschord, John on bass and Ringo on drums. The final recording actually kept John's bass performance in tact😃

George Martin is the epitome of a gentleman in every sense of the word. The odds are incredible that a band would have two writers who were geniuses. They are astronomical that they would then end up with someone like Martin. That's not lighting in a bottle, that like catching three strikes of lightning in a bottle. That culmination of "perfect storm" elements is why we still talk about The Beatles today like they are demigods.
And, to think, all this happened because George Martin just liked the guys. He's said in interviews that he really didn't care for their music, at first, He just thought they were "charming."

What a wonderful person and a great attitude. I also love George's old-school accent. As an American, I have to ask: Would his accent be considered posh? Either way, I love it.

What a disgusting subterfuge. George Martin reduced the popular band, "The Beatles" to Brill building Garbage. For what? To sell records, I guess , in my opinion. It's no wonder to me why John left the band. It no longer had feeling. It was just notes. gimmicks, bad writing, and dollars, also my opinion. The Emperor has no clothes on.

In a tribute to Martin after his death, McCartney said "If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle, it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I've ever had the pleasure to know."

George Martin was truly amazing. He was a kind, gentle, thoughtful man ... who also had incredible talent. Wouldn't it be refreshing if even just a small percentage of the world could be infused with these traits? The world would be such a better place.

It's the producers job to help the band. No, he should not be credited for saying "how bout E. Instead of A"

You have ridiculous comments in your videos. George Martin did not co-write anything.

If he played a piano and wanted credit then John would've said, nevermind ill play the piano.
They didn't need George Martin to be great.

I am of the belief that George Martin was the actual 5th Beatle. His work as a producer is immensely inspiring to me. Everything I know about music production, I’ve learned through listening to how he produced the Beatles’ records. An absolute genius, as much as Lennon and McCartney.
