Hey matie. You need to use Reapers RT Analyser for actual plugin DSP resource use (its in the Performance Meter but you might need to enable it by right clicking and selecting it). CPU is not a good measurement of DAW performance. Its strange people think Reaper is really efficient, I found it almost the worst for orchestral templates. Anything over 1000 tracks and it starts choking (even empty tracks). Its something to do with Reapers crappy routing efficiency, especially if you route to BUS, Stem or print tracks, forget your performance. I swapped to Bitwig, its massively more efficient for larger templates. You can load 5000+ tracks in Bitwig and it takes zero DPS (if they're disabled). PS: a "track" is not only the library track, but the MIDI articulations, BUS outputs and FX sends - they all mount up fast.
