Can you use these for a decking ledger, 400mm apart? Was going to stick some ali flashing to the back of the wood so between ledger and wall is water proof.
ОтветитьHi Roger. Hope you're not so inundated with messages these days that you're unable to reply to this one 😊. Thanks for all the excellent vids firstly... I have a washing line that travels the length of the garden (well over 13m) and I needed to rethink the post the line goes into.
Don't want to put in a concrete post due to the concrete and needing to be able to dig the garden for a new shed at a later date.
I've gone with using the retaining wall at the end of the garden and a fence post screwed into it. I have some self tapping bolts similar to these but assumed the Rawlbots would be stronger due to the pulling force at the wall (I'd guesstimate well over 70kg when the clothes are weight... maybe more).
Am I doing it wrong trying to use RawlBolts or Throughbolts by Fishcher... Would you suggest I just go and get some of these and will they manage so much pulling force!?
Thanks.
I have coach screws and am looking to fix down a metapost to concrete will these work? Or do I need to get more expensive ones likes in this video?
ОтветитьCould the bolts be used to secure a ledger for a deck to a double brick wall. (Structured wall).
ОтветитьPerhaps a silly question, but if I can't see what I'm drilling into (solid brick wall behind plaster) will these work if I drill into mortar?
ОтветитьHi Roger, just saw this after a lot of looking for something to fix a large Sanus cantilever tv mount to the wall but was concerned over the four bolts they provided for my old cottage brickwork. Any thoughts? Thank you
ОтветитьHow about tarmac ?
ОтветитьBrilliant craftsman regular job. Jason Statham Brit accent dialogue coach on the side.
ОтветитьTories pretending to be Businesses. friend what a Corrupt Gang .. along with there "city Bankers" ....
Ответитьi would only suggest have a bit more clearance in that post because as the bolt thread draws up into the concrete, the head of the bolt needs to be able to pull into the timber. If the thread is tight into the timber as well, it won't be able to draw the two together properly.
ОтветитьCan you send me the link for those atlas bolts or tell me where to go to get them.
ОтветитьM8 bolt / drill size ?.. please help
ОтветитьCan you still use wall plug to be extra secure?
ОтветитьDo you need to pre drill the holes or do these drill. Guessing so
Ответить5 years later and this is still helping make a man's life easier. Just need abit of support and you'd out do Boris.
ОтветитьHi ,what length size you recommend for 20ft x 12ft wood workshop in to concrete, thank you,I do have some 100x 10 ,are they deep enough for 2 inch plate ?
ОтветитьWhat do you do when you experience resistance and you have to turn super super hard to screw it in any deeper?
Ответить75mm atlas fixing ok👍
ОтветитьCan I use these straight into a concrete fence post for a 16 inch hanging basket.
Thankyou Mr skill builder😃
Hi just seen this video. Would these work to secure balustrade posts to the top of a brick wall?
ОтветитьThanks for the video. Can you use these (smaller versions e.g. 60mm x 7.5mm) to fix into mortar between bricks? Thanks
ОтветитьMy hero. Rendered my first wall the other day..Tips from SB great Thanks
ОтветитьI know this is an old video, but I'm doing a job where these have been put into old (real old) bricks and one of them has pulled out - what can be done to secure better? Cheers
Ответитьwould you use for ledger boards?
ОтветитьHey Roger I'm hanging a basketball rim and backboard for the kids at Church on the brick wall of the building. Is weight a factor in which Atlas Bolts I should use and if so what would you suggest, I want this thing to be secure, Also there will be NO hanging on the rim activity I just want a safe and secure finish. Thank You
ОтветитьHi there I'm looking for some advice. I am looking for some advice. I am going to be building a window cannopy at the front of my house. And I have been instructed to fix some 6x2 timber to the house in order to take the weight of the cannopy and to fix it using resin and screwed rod. However as my house has wall cavities I can only insert the rods in 50mm. Should this be enough to hold the cannopy of is there any other fixing method I can use for example going through the cavity into the internal brickwork and use some other fixings?? Thanks.
ОтветитьDecent product. I use chemical anchors myself, never let me down.
ОтветитьWhat size drill for the brick....too big no good....too small bolt snaps ?
ОтветитьDo these work on thermalite blocks?
ОтветитьWould you trust these for a pull up bar ?
ОтветитьA bit lazy with the instructions....
ОтветитьThank you for another informative video. Would these be suitable for attaching the base plate of a timber frame building to dense concrete blocks? If so, what length would you recommend? Washers? It's for a diy-build garden room/ annex.
ОтветитьCheers, these are a good solution for putting up wall plates for a joisted ceiling (under 0.25 kN/m) job I have to do.
75% are going into concrete and the others will be securing to wood inserts in RSJs.
A nice solution to fix the lot with a common product.
I’ve been happy with expanding bolts that use a same size drill. The type with expanding ring at the bottom end. I’ve not had much success with the self tapping type. Resin anchors are best for a true no stress attachment or in friable materials like concrete blocks. They are slower but there are always other things to do while the resin sets up.
ОтветитьThese are the only bolts i use for fixing to brick or concrete. Works every time !
ОтветитьThat wobble at the end sold it.
ОтветитьI'm fixing 2inch timber to a 4inch block wall. What size would you recommend?
ОтветитьRoger Bisby you are a legend the best builder advice on here, him and his mate the chippy Robin I think is his name, they know their stuff
ОтветитьAre they available in Australia
ОтветитьHi .I've gotta put up a pull up bar on a outside hollow brick wall ,using raw boots supplied at 12 mill .I'm just concerned about damaging bricks after install due to the type of use..I'm thinking of filling the ore drilled hole with chem fix to fill out the hollow in the brick n before it sets fix the bar up ..what's your thoughts please 👍
ОтветитьI like the way you talk man. and a very informative video as well
thanks
We produce concrete block machines. so this bolts are used on our productions
How deep into a house brick should you go? Looked like 2” in the video, is this about right?
ОтветитьThe Atlas Bolts look exactly alike to the Simpson Titen HD Screws. What's advantage here?
ОтветитьI swear I heard him say the bolts were "self tapping," did I not? If so, I'd like to see that in action. I find the issue with these types of masonry bolts is because you have to drill a pilot hole first, the strength of the bolt in the material is compromised. A self tapping concrete/brick/etc., bolt would solve this problem, but I assume would be very expensive because the material would have to be equal to a carbide drill bit. Otherwise, if these are the same as other masonry bolts on the market, I don't really see the advantage.
ОтветитьFor a 12mm bolt what size hole should I drill?
ОтветитьThese are great, for smaller jobs I have been using Tapcon screws.
ОтветитьOk how do you do the 2nd and 3rd bolts?, do you have to take the 1st one off etc
ОтветитьWill choose expanding/anchor bolts over this Everytime.
ОтветитьHello! It's. Gordon Ramsey
