The pigs will do the work for you in the woods … get them first. :-). Also the ponds are a fantastic resource …. The best of which will,be the ‘gunge’ which builds up at the bottom of your pond. If you dredge this out late autumn] after the leaves have fallen and mix it with your compost it will supercharge your compost .also get some rainbow trout fry and a large solar aerator pump and if you eat fish you’ll have a really healthy source of omega 3 from the trout. Put some Rudd or roach in one of the ponds ( but no trout) these will breed like crazy and you can introduce them to the trout pond when the trout are bigger as a food source.. And the leftovers can feed your plants. Good luck
ОтветитьHi, great video. N what you've got is fantastic. But around the midlands, where we are, it's either a four bedroom farmouse with 3 acres for around 850k give or take, or 3 acres of ag land for around 45k. Its bloody depressing for someone who wants to live as you do 😂 anyway, moaning aside, great video, new subscriber 👍🏻
ОтветитьSo inspiring!!!!❤
ОтветитьHi .New subscriber here what is the best way to find small holding for sale?
ОтветитьI'm so happy we found your channel! Such a lovely adventure and property you all have. We're looking forward to following your journey. Cheers from a couple of Americans living in the UK! Before moving back to the US to our 4-acre hobby farm. Jess
ОтветитьSorry to be negative but to talk of a Future Proof life in GB these days is a little optimistic to
say the least? We have a 'government & political workforce' hell bent on reducing every law, policy,
reg, to make a free, independent life on some dirt, something to be whittled away at until everything
any freedom loving person is trying to achieve, is made as close to impossible as can be achieved
for the foreseeable future! Land is the number one asset the globalists & their sock puppet pollies
are and will be aiming to gain control over, so no matter what policies, rules & regs may be in place now,
none of them have any guarantee of longevity and will be changed as and when local councils decide!
And that is happening now, all around the country already.
You are a brave man and I wish you the very best but don't expect things as they are, to remain that
way in the near future.
instead of having pigs , you could grow specialty mushrooms , do micro greens which are fast to produce or dig a pond and grow plants in there that you could sell, or do all of the both of course
ОтветитьGood luck.
ОтветитьGreat video i really excited
ОтветитьCan you do a crude map, so it makes sense in my head, Ta
ОтветитьHi, and what a lovely bit of land you have there. Thanks for showing us around. I must say it seems bigger than just under 3 acres and I think that is because there are quite different and distinctive parts to it; pastures, woodlands, ponds, etc. In that regard it is a bit similar to our place which is 4.2 acres. The first thing we did, which for us has proved to be useful, was to buy and plant trees every autumn - basically as many as we could get. Even if we knew we would need to ultimately move the tree from where we initially planted, having it on the land, putting on growth and acclimatising to our micro-climate, has worked well and has essentially given us a stock of trees we can use as we get around to developing new areas. I look forward to seeing how you get on with things. Enjoy it. :)
ОтветитьGreat video, how exciting! One word of advice, from experience Id recommend laying down a quality weed membrane between the raised beds before laying the bark, otherwise you will quite quickly get weeds and grass growing straight through the bark as it breaks down
ОтветитьGreat video, really excited for you and to watch your journey! May I ask for a rough cost for the small holding please?
ОтветитьHow did you find your smallholding ?
