Well, the folks at Bethesda didn't have the ten commandments in mind when they designed Skyrim as an open world rpg.

I'd argue you didn't breach "thou shalt not steal." Your reasoning for not looting was that when a character dies, the loot is rightfully the belonging of their next of kin. A man that has been dead for over a millenium very likely has no living kin.

There's also an argument to be made that when the Jarl gave you orders to recover it, that you acting as an agent of the state in an asset seizure makes it the Jarl's responsibility rather than yours. "Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's" and all that. It's not stealing, it's taxation. 😋

Finally, there's an argument that the Dragonstone isn't the draugr's in the first place. The security guard stationed at the bank doesn't own everything in the vault, after all.

On the flip-side, there's also an argument to make that the Thu'um is a gift of Akatosh to the dragons who, through parthurnax, passed it along to the mortals. Unless, of course, your character is using Akatosh the creator as a stand-in for the Christian God. Not the cleanest parallel but I'd certainly accept it.

The correct translation is "Thou Shalt not murder" murder and kill are two completely different things. The Bible not only allows self defense but encourages you to protect your family and household.

fyi, Aerin is a super simp for Mjoll. to the point he follows her basically everywhere and very often joins in combat for no reason, no matter what you're fighting. hell i wouldnt be surprised if you take Mjoll to soverngarde some how he'd follow you there... if he lived. which he rarely does, usually a skeever or something kills him. and if you marry her and move her into your home in say the dragonborn DLC island, he will move there with her. if she joins the blades, he follows. but he does "do" anything. doesnt join the blades, acts like he's still in Riften..... honestly creepy and concerning really.

In lore, Aludin can be considered a god. All dragons are considered gods in their own right due to their dominance and immortality. So is killing a false god against the bible? I have no idea.

Technically you dont kill Alduin as he in an aspect of Akotosh and the end of time you simply purified that part of an arrogant soul not doing Gods work

Another thing Akotosh could be the lord as he is the god of time and created humanity along with dragons so shouts work

Adultery is possible in the game... if you do the quest "A night to remember" when you are married, you will cheat on your spouse with a hagraven... and cheat on that hagraven too, with another hagraven. "Esmeralda with the dark feathers."

But you dobsobwhen hammered, so I guess it doesnt matter.

My comment is not related to your challenge but a fact about the Holy Bible itself.
King James translation of the Bible - which is the one that basically every Bible in the western world is based from - wrongfully translated the 6th commandment. It is "You shall not murder" and not "You shall not kill", separating unlawful killing from law-justified killing (death penalty and a justified war).

You let your followers kill humans, but you won't kill an undead zombie. Such a good Christian. If that's truly the way into heaven, you can keep it, that place sounds awful.

“Thou shalt not kill” is a mistranslation. The original Hebrew specifically means murder. Anyone who attacks you first is fair game as you are allowed to defend yourself.

I would argue about how you interpret the commandment “thou shalt not kill.” There are clearly moments in the Bible where killing isn’t just OK, but commanded. God didn’t begrudge David when he killed the lion that attacked him and the sheep he was herding, and he commanded King Saul to kill “every living thing” of the Amalekites, from humans to animals. Therefore, I’d argue that killing animals is at least OK. Humans can be dealt with by making paralysis poisons and putting them on a basic iron dagger to make other enemies flop over until you can run away.

I don't agree that taking the dragon stone counts as stealing.

The draugr is described as the stone's guardian and keeper. Not it's owner. A security guard at a museum doesn't own the paintings they guard, and if I'm my brother's keeper, I don't own him. I'm just responsible for him.

Sure you made the draugr fail in his responsibilities, but that's not a commandment.

ok you did good with the commandments except for shouting which comes from dragons which comes from akatosh and the thu'um comes from kynareth or kyne or whatever so you cannot complete skyrim without breaking the ten commandments

The dragonstone was a map of burial mounds made after the dragon war to help people fight against them should Alduin return. Since dragon can only be killed permanently when the dragonborn absorbs their soul dragons can revive and this map should help the future people to find where they were buried. It was protected by draugr so no random just comes to grab it. I think considering these points that taking it is in fact no thievery.

So, the thing with shouts, is that its also belueved that they were a gift to man from Kyne/Kynareth; the goddess of the winds. So, technically, by using them you are breaking a commandment.

Alduin received the Death Sentence.
You were chosen as the Executioner.
Therefore, you did not murder.

im pretty sure the rule against killing only counts for people (undead/dragons/demons/animals/etc) would not be effected BUT because dragons are highly inteligent they COULD be counted (unlike a wolf that attacks you because its hungry or thinks your a threat) so... you still lost?

Is it really killing if they're already in sovrngarde? If I remember correctly sovrngarde is considered a place where you go and if you die, you don't really die. I might be wrong in this aspect that's that's my understanding of it.
