All the analog horror channels and stories you covered are actually really good to watch. Love the ideas that people come up with
You need to cover more because there are a lot more and they are equally good but are different from these.

Honestly my favourite shot from this series that sticks with me is the end of the 'games for children' episode where it just points to Earth going "found you" in such a cheery and silly tone. That alone is so menacing and ominous without the rest of the video and tone adding to a sort of feeling like a parent having found their 'wayward child' who is now unable to escape/leave/etc from an authority figure with power over them, which just makes it extra eerie and with a tone of "you've been found so now just accept what's next".

I think the idea of the universe being interconnected is very interesting as a double-edged element for horror or, bear with me here, the complete opposite.

One of the big sources of existential dread imo is the perceived insignificance of our place in the universe, both as humans and as denizens of this planet. So something where everybody is essentially connected, and by that notion, relevant to the "ecosystem" if you will, can actually act as something of an encouraging source of. . . relief? It means that everything has purpose.

But being an ecosystem is in itself, double-edged. Because what kind of ecosystem is it? A nervous system, a fungal web? That question itself gives so many answers, many of which are chilling.

Also, hey Ryan, if your reading this. I love your videos, especially as someone who's not into horror. Your channel acts as an excellent way to engage with the medium through an incredibly high quality lens (your channel) while still encouraging thoughts and discussion. Thanks so much for what you do, man.

I'm surprised that you didn't even bring up lethal omen at all. It's a short horror game that ties in with the series and, while i don't think it's particularly noteeorthy as a game, it does show the dedicatition behind this project since it adds a lot of context to the series mythology.

the yelling for help in the intro sounds like genuine pain, fear and despair, not mimicry; like whoever’s yelling is in sheer agony. what causes agony? deep root disease. that person was screaming for help as the deep root disease was controlling their legs and arms- at least that’s my theory. due to the way they were walking around at least

I won't lie, I'm genuinely enjoying your take on these ARGs and similar videos. I'm always excited to hear your take on these series because you don't just regurgitate what others are saying. Lore is great but I like how your focus on the FEEL of these videos and while you make comparisons to other media, you don't do it to beat down on an idea but rather do it to give context to a scene or scenario..

Dunno if it's the copy that Vessi gave you, but if you're genuinely having trouble with your toes and arches those shoes are gonna make the problem worse. They are far too narrow, even with the stretch fabric uppers, to give your toes room for a natural spread which is essential for foot health. By all means get your bag, my man... but know that there are shoes that will actually help the problem and Vessi ain't it

In terms of analog horror there's the good, the bad and the "you're trying way too hard".

Gemini Home Entertainment is definitely in the good category. It gives you enough without spelling it out or being super obvious. It feeds you little bits at a time until it starts to come together gloriously.

personally I really like the constant world building and technical lore drops Remy implements like the probe mission where it gives vague terms like the Iris's "conscious mind" or seemingly peering through its eyes as it stalks Jack. I think that's just as scary as the fear of the unknown if done right where the more you learn of this mysterious threat the more powerless and scared you'll end up being as you try to wrap your mind around the overwhelming abilities and complexities the monster has at its disposal. That's why I feel a lot of the videos aside from maybe Jack's or Harbinge's videos to an extent, all seem to only exist to scare you, making you helpless and weak against this grotesque abomination of flesh taking the form of an eye, and as you stated only seems to taunt you from afar.

Great video! I love Gemini to bits! Will say though, I didn’t interpret the “techno-horror” parts as a disease spreading through AI. The company mentions that they were working on this project for a “client” and that they expect to meet said client in a few months. Their system isn’t an AI. I think it’s a communication system. And they’re talking to the Iris. The Iris is their client, and it will arrive soon.

I'm very surprised at this interpretation. I get the feeling that evil ai take over is an old exhausted boring plotline but I am really surprised how you talk about how much you dislike that about Gemini. You even mention that you can accept that it's iris hijacking the ai but you just don't like the evil ai style. I'm very confused because it is clearly not ai, but a company showcasing what they think is AI but is instead showing iris considering thought and logic while arguably learning human language at a rather fast pace thanks to the ai development. I don't think there's any interpretation that says that the ai references in this series are in fact simply an evil ai. I think there's actually no suggestion that ai is bad, simply that Gemini accessed it and uses it to communicate. These were some of the best episodes in my opinion because it's not just like "ooooo, spooky feed the forest" or found footage of people running at the camera or knocking, it's a vague and weird communication between humans and iris itself. It shows us the mind of iris. I never once even considered these episodes as ai and found them to be extremely unnerving and I don't scare easily. I'm honestly surprised that anyone took it as a generic evil ai overlord plot while also mentioning that you just see it as iris hijacking but softly criticizing it because you think the actual interpretation is that it's ai and you mentally retcon it.

Tldr, I'm very surprised that your interpretation of the "ai" is wrong but your preferred headcanon/retcon is the actual suggestion the viewer is supposed to recognize. It's like watching alien and saying that you wish the show didn't send the message "capitalism is good" and should've had an evil corporation using people to capture an alien species.
