Excellent video I think I did it right. I just purchased my first watch to start my collection. I went vintage look timex q reissue under 200.😊
ОтветитьСпасибо большое за обзор, мало что знал о них и очень помогло
ОтветитьLiked and subbed
ОтветитьI have got a big wrist I just think that 39 watch’s fit so well
Ответитьsmall choronograph roundup never came... :(
ОтветитьNice video, but I would like to add some brand recommendations and I disagree on the quality judgement for higher pricing.
I was quite astonished that you lowball mechanical watches that much :D
First, as a good entry into higher value next to Seiko I think Longines must get an honorable mention here. I think someone looking at Seiko might quickly find their way to the about 1k pricepoint. And starting from there, Longines has so much to offer in heritage and value, that they are hard to be ignored in the larger entry bracket of mechanichal watches.
And I think indeed some nice mechanical watches can be found in the 100-250 GBP bracket, but then, looking at - maybe not Seiko, but Longines, or Formex as well as other microbrands, they do let so much love go into their timepieces, and you SURELY see that easily without a microscope. Comparing a 100 USD/GBP/EUR mechanical watch like Invicta or Steeldive, even when made well and without QC issues, is NOTHING like say a Davosa Ternos, a Longines Hydroconquest or a Formex Reef. They are so much better finished, and there are noticeable details like AR coating which is often completely absent on the lower priced watches. The bracelets feel better and sit better on the wrist. The ability to (easily) change the bracelet to a strap, or even change the bezel like on the Formex Reef, are features that make these watches easily stand out of the price-defined low entry level. Now I do think there is a diminishing return with quality but that really comes with the price point of 5k at earliest, looking at something like the Glashutte Original SeaQ -especially the movement - makes me get goosebumps any time, and thats some K more than 5 but no more than 10. And going from there, I don't unterstand anyone that prefers a Submariner over that SeaQ.
I always buy from an Authorized Dealer....TONS of fakes everywhere online, most people have fakes and have No clue they got scammed.
ОтветитьWhy so much hate against MVMT ? lol!
ОтветитьIf you know nothing about watches here are some sure fire brands at good price points:
- Casio under $100
- Timex & Orient under $200
- Seiko, Bulova, and Citizen under $300
- Tissot & Glycine under $500
Until about 2 years ago I knew absolutely NOTHING about watches! Thought that quartz were better than mechanical (wouldn't have even considered a mechanical because I thought that they were crap), I thought that Seiko was on the same quality level as Sekonda, and I could have named maybe 7 brands at the most! I quit heroin, and after 6 months, I bought myself an Accurist Chronograph (Bi metal plated), and a lovely blue sunburst dial......£160, and I thought it was an expensive high quality product.......I've learned a hell of a lot since then, still FAR from being an expert, and enjoying learning, and building up my mechanical watch collection! More Doxas, Vostocks, and Sekos, and less Accurists! LOL.

ОтветитьI found various useful information. 🫶❤️🔥
Ответитьwhen you're choosing a watch, always choose the cheapest option, preferably under 10 dollars. The reason: anything higher would be a waste of money, because it's just going to get broken anyway.
ОтветитьListening to a Bond villain talk about watches...
ОтветитьHa also we have smartwatch, or you only talk about classic watches?
ОтветитьFor me, Quartz is not a watch. It's like walking with a dead body on your hand.
Putting quartz on the hand, feels like a necrophiliac.
Reall informative video
ОтветитьBen, you give the horological industry and hobby a lot of class. Fantastic videos that I look forward to watching. Great job.
ОтветитьI have an automatic seiko 007.
Whenever its dropped its a headache. O have to get it fixed everytime. I'd earher wear my gshock tough solar. Itll last a longer.
Great video 👍
Ответитьbrother i had watch parina luminar automatic watch and in this watch.. i had to do repairing so is it costly or cheap .. can you tell me
ОтветитьI've been down several rabbit holes before stumbling onto your videos.
You've educated me and definitely saved me a fortune. Thank you.
Sorry, what did you say about quartz ticking? Can't hear you over my weekender..
ОтветитьI need myself a Seiko 5 Automatic 😭
ОтветитьDo you think the Casio GM-2100 Metal cover, is worth it for $200?
ОтветитьI have a 7" wrist and 35mm - 42mm is my best watch size range. I was lured into a beautiful, reasonably priced mechanical watch that is 44mm, but rarely wear it, unless participating in a Viking raid and need a shield to hide from English arrows...
ОтветитьHow about eco-drives?
ОтветитьIf you are looking at your first "every day" watch. Start with a budget and stick to it. Then go for for practical over what everybody recommends.
IE: quartz / solar is MUCH better for everyday. But a good automatic with big power reserve will be ok.
And go to the watch stores and try them all on. And don't buy at the first store. Take some time, have fun with it and then pick the one you like most and return to that store and buy it.
You'll be happy.
Now for buying a collector watch. Never buy on debt. Always buy with cash you can piss away.
If you're in this to make money don't bother, buy gold bars instead.
If you like watches then have fun.
Hmt
ОтветитьBen, i noticed you don't review swiss made beauties ? Why though...lol
Ответитьgreat video
ОтветитьDoes it look good ? Yes /No
Does it give time ? Yes /No
Is it in your price range ? Yes/No
That's all you need
Japanese, quartz, solar charge and stainless still.
ОтветитьFeels bad having a 5.5" wrist.
ОтветитьDidn't know Pedri had a twin who's watch enthusiast
ОтветитьWhat about a ciga
ОтветитьJust buy any Swiss made watches and you’ll be fine with reliability. Personally I buy only mechanical watches but Swiss quartz watches are technically perfect as well.
ОтветитьThanks for this video, I'm new to watches and am really amazed by the Orient Open Heart automatic. It's the kind of feature JLC would make you pay $20k for but for an every-man budget and from a solid Japanese brand, not a knock off from China.
ОтветитьThen you get muppets who wear a diesel big daddy and they think they are the coolest cats on the block.
Any influencer who says that they get so many compliments after wearing the watch for a week is also lying. As a watch guy I'll receive maybe 2-3 compliments a year.
Great video alot info on watches thanks 🙂🙂
ОтветитьBut why buy a watch?? You really do not need them.
ОтветитьI have a quartz replica of a Fliegeruhr (B-model) by Mil-Tec. Yes it's easy to tell that it isn't a real one and a decent number of things are historically incorrect. But I still think it looks nice, tells the time and most importantly, isn't too expensive. That's not only good because I can afford it but if it were too expensive I might not have dared to wear it in everyday conditions.
Perhaps a little bit more expensive than some quartz watches but I had a code for a pecentage off the price on the website I bought it on. Also I just thought it looked cool.
I give the same advice to everyone; If a brand also makes clothes, avoid.
