It looks like by removing the hard drive I can keep all my in formation if I buy the component you spoke of near end if video. My computer does not have an HDMI port. Also how do I know if my stuff is in a cloud?

Physically removing a hard drive is not the same as recovering data.

Ok I can buy a cable for my broken Compaq Presario CQ61 Laptop, I am going to take the hard drive out of my Compaq Presario CQ61, it's a USB Cable I have to plug in, is it a 2,5" Sata interface and is it 15 or 22 pin I need and again this is the cheapest cable to attach to the hard drive which I am going to take out of my Compaq Presario CQ61 and attach the cable to this hard drive, so what should I type into EBay or even better AliExpress as they cost around £3

I connected my hard drive using usp to sata, connected to working laptop but laocal disk folder doesn’t show up

I have a Dell Latitude D505 Laptop which the screen is damaged. I have taken the hard drive out and it is not made like other hard drives it has no pins just a long bar with metal connectors and on the side of that it is four small pins on the side of the bar. The drive is a Fujitsu, mode number MHV2060AH. What type of connector or connection can I make with this hard drive to access my files?

Thanks for help but I seem to be coming across a problem. I have the previous hard drive hooked up to the SATA cable and i appears onscreen. However when I go to users, my previous name does not appear. All I have are Guest, Public, and AppData. Any ideas why, or suggestions? Thanks

i was given a really old windows xp imb thinkpad laptop about 5yrs ago by my dad from his work (he gets laptops + phones free) but then i got a new one so only used the old one now and then for other purposes. About 2yrs ago i was asked to change the password which it does about every month or 2, so i did and wrote down the password character for charater and the next time i tried to log in it wouldnt let me, i tried the password in different variations but it still refused and eventually locked me out. Every now and then i attempt to get back in and find ways of doing in on the internet but still havent found any way. it says i have to contact the administrator or someone if i want to get back in but i dont want to because its such a hassle and i dont NEED it i just want the files on it if i cant use it again.
is there a way of getting back in without having to contact admin?
can i get the files i need off?

With the battery also dead, I thought I would not be able to access the files without paying to get the laptop fixed or the files professionally extracted. I thought everything I wrote was gone. I successfully opened my story on my desktop with help from this video! Thank you, Miguel. My husband also thanks you since we don't have to fork out the cash to get this rectified. Yay! You're a life saver!
