Gretzky maybe the greatest team player of all time, but Mario no doubt the best individual player

I am grateful i got to watch his career as a youngster. He was a magician would leave you shaking your head saying how the fuck did he just do that so many times. He played through so much pain and was still worlds ahead of everyone when he did. Mad respect!

I'm 47 n watched lemieux from 9yrs old. WHERE IS THE "NEXT LEMIEUX?" NHLers are good n thumbs up for the superstars, but NONE ARE MARIO LEMIEUX. For arguments sake, I always thought of Jaromir Jagr as a left handed Lemieux 👍

Mario Lemieux would never make it in today's NHL because they don't employ so many rented mules

Scotty Bowman, the greatest coach in NHL history in a recent podcast interview with ‘The Athletic.’

You had some great ones in Pittsburgh, no?

“Well, Mario is the best player I’ve ever coached. He’s the greatest player I’ve ever seen. He was never healthy and he was way ahead of everybody else when I was in Pittsburgh. To this day, I still think what he did in the 1992 playoffs — you have to remember he played the last two series with one healthy hand — is the greatest playoff performance ever. Nobody was ever better than Mario was for us in 1992.”

Mario is a sweet goal scorer, but only 99 knows where the puck is going to be…the ‘87 Canada cup clip shows this magnificently. Mario scored, but Wayne already knew that.

If I were selecting in a pond game with Mario and Wayne out there, I would take Mario. Mario would have had better numbers than Gretzky if he were out West. Gretzky could not handle the roughness the East.

The last goal against Nordiques with two players on his back will be forever my ultimate favorite goal. And it tells how dominant he was. The one where he fooled Bourque like a child,, one of the best D-Def ever tells a lot as well.

Turn-around goal on his back hand is something too.

First NHL game, first face-off, first shot, first goal against Boston and Bourque… Je h man.. I could talk about him forever.
