Could a US destroyer defeat the Russian Battlecruiser?

Yep an American destroyer built to escort larger ships is almost as strong as a Russian battle cruiser and flagship. And I noticed you never talked about crew quality and maintenance and breakdown rates which would be a huge factor. Sorry but Russian stuff is unreliable crap.

And if a few Neptune missiles were enough for the Moskva, a dozen Harpoon missiles would also be enough to sink a Kirov class.

Yes, the burks have one ciws. However, the second ciws was replaced by rim-ram that can engage targets at a greater distance than the ciws. Also, ESSM is also deployed on burks. 4 missiles in one vls tube. Also, 20 mm romote firing guns have been added.

Total wrong comparison, should be Kirov-class battlecruiser vs Ticonderoga-class cruiser! Build and in service around the same time...
Kirov has better weapons load, Ticonderoga has better sensors and situational awareness depending on the situation both can win.

You seem to completely missed the fact that the crew is the most important factor in fighting a ship. We already know that the Russian crew is poorly trained. Their ability to fight the ship and also to keep the ship floating after it gets hit, it's not shown promise. Also I don't believe that an arleigh Burke destroyer operates in a vacuum. There will always be an a wax or Poseidon or some kind of assets nearby to back it up. Russia on the other hand has shown its capabilities quite well in the Black Sea. And they know nothing. So really Binkov, what you're really talking about is hypotheticals. What a hypothetical second greatest Navy in the world would do against the best Navy in the world. And we all know that that is a paper tiger. There's no denying that the Russian military has a lot of kinetic energy built into it. Maybe too much. But they lack pretty much everything else.
My money is on the Arleigh Burke.

obviously! Kirov class is heavy cruiser, and even battlecruiser in US classification. I think Slava class or Sovremenny class is fair to compairs with Arleigh Burk class.

This video certainly hasn't aged very well. Ukraine's been able to prove all of this as complete bunk using the lowest quality weapons in NATO's arsenal.

It’s not just the “Equipment”, it’s the Storied 250 yr history of US Navy & it’s lessons learned from the best… the British Navy. Training, naval personnel & tactics. So yes, I would fully expect US/UK smaller vessels to overwhelm the larger Russian ships.

If there is really a war then all missiles will be filled with nuclear... just close to 1 kilometer is enough to annihilate the entire group of ships into steam... that's why Kirov is called the killer of the US ship group... only need 1 ship is enough

Wrong. Russian ship maintenance hovers between pathetic and non-existent. Most of their systems are either past the referb cycle, or simply inactive, taking up space. There is also the addition of the TASM to the newest flight of Burkes...Kirov cannot defend against it.

If the Kirov were properly maintained and upgraded, as it was during the Soviet Union, it should win. However, it's safe to assume that the Kirov class ships are in a bad state of repair, and an Arleigh Burke would win. Not that a 1v1 would ever realistically happen in the first place.

You keep forgetting that there is only one Kirov class afloat. It would be outnumbered in any rational scenario. Also, the AEGIS system can detect surface vessels at a MUCH MUCH greater range than anything Russia has, even with helicopters. I don't se a scenario where Russia would be able to sneak up on any US vessel.

Kirov would last about 30 minutes if it could even get there.

This is assuming that all of the Kirovs weapons and radar systems work properly, which as we've seen with the Moskva, isn't very likely.

Things to consider, 1) neither ship will be by itself and I guarantee a Burke will have another Burke Class ship nearby to create a crossfire. 2) Maintenance and leadership will play a huge a crucial advantage, both are lacking as proven by the Russian military currently in the Ukraine. US leadership trains it's leaders to be creative as the Russians usually follow doctrine. 3) No matter how big and bad the Russians think the Kirov is, it can be defeated. Think back to the "unstoppable" ships of WWII: the Bismark/Tirpitz and the Yamamoto.

The more you learn about US Warships , the more you understand how lethal and superior they are to most everything on the globe, UK and Japanese warships are very close in comparison, the AEGIS a missile defense system is in its own league, nothing comes close, China knows this.

Burke only needs enough fuel to run back to its carrier fighter cover. Kirov, stuck perpetually in port with broken-down engines, has nowhere to run away to.

Putina only has one "operational" battlecruiser in the Northern Fleet (Pyotyr Veliky). The last time it was at sea was in August of last year. Every time it does go to sea it needs a year of repairs to keep it running. Hardly a threat to NATO.
