Do you have literacy needs? Kitchener and Churchill were monsters, pure evil, indeed. Early in 1882, the Ansar, armed with spears and swords, overwhelmed a British-led 7,000-man Egyptian force not far from Al Ubayyid and seized their rifles, field guns and ammunition. So, yeah, the British were pretty useless, indeed. I'm not here to offend any one. I'm just being honest. There isn't that many decent British people throughout all of British history. And the British Australian contingent to Sudan war dead were never returned or buried at home. Many locals still dig up the dead British and Australians. The British committed awful crimes against Humanity.

Some of the west Sudan was separate kingdoms during invasion, so technically British didn't colonized Sudan completely.

A decent, succinct overview of a massively influential history so I commend you for that. Of course, if you had an extra few seconds, it would be helpful to mention the extreme famines that plagued the region and of course the cruelty of Kitchener in relation to the famine and the conflict.

First battle of Agordat
Battle of Serobeti
Second battle of Agordat
Battle of Kassala
On all these occasions the Italians heavily smashed the Mahdists.

You conveniently forgot about the part where General Gordons army was defeated by the Sudanese people and Gordon was killed 🤔🤔

An interesting side note to one of the effects of the Boer war. That in WW2, the British didn't force conscription on the South Africans to fight in the war, fearful it may turn them to support Germany. What the British did to the Boers in the war ran long and deep for decades.

In a 3 minute clip he takes the time to dwell on the incident of the killings of some wounded Mahdists after the battle but does not mention the murder of Gordon or the mass slaughter the Mahdists made at the fall of Khartoum and at every other city they took or the slaughter, slavery and rape they used on any peoples under their power in the 13 years they were allowed to have the region.

Breaking the Mahdist power was the best thing to happen to the region in a long time.

Sudanese fight bravely against British and Egyptians but do you know that somalians fight so hard against European colonialist that 3 European and ethiopian empire all decide at one time to wage war Franch north west , ethiopians west British at North and far south and Italians east and part of south.

so I see some Sudanese saying that we Sudan are the only african who fought back but did you new somalians fought against 4 imperial forces and they have never been inslaved and the British lost so many wars that they fight with airplanes.

somalia is the only african country that European fight with airplanes in 1921.

so read history before you say we are the only nation fight back against European colonialist.

I was kinda thinking the Mahdist were the underdogs, but when they won they then fucked with ethiopia and taxed them, exactly what the turks did to them. No ones the good guy, just those who strike first and those who fight back

Kitchener was a very cruel man. From his campaigns and cleanups for the empire, it was pretty obvious he was really old fashioned in some of his approaches despite the militaristic refinements he made in WWI. His death pretty much signalled the passing of the old mostly imperialistic campaigns and WWII pretty much solidified that.
