The Aliens of Fallout

I think the aliens caused the nuclear war. Without organized governments or millions of soldiers, militias and police and paramilitaries to deal with or humans in general criminals included, with most humans and all powerful governments dead, than the aliens can do whatever they want relatively unhindered

I really hope they add more of a zetan story or add on thing in the next fallout i love the zetans

These little bastards are the absolute most annoying enemies in Fallout 76. Pop up absolutely out of nowhere with endless plasma grenades and blasters that just wreck your health. I have a level 50 Shotgun that deals 250 damage a shot but these little pricks only take a tenth of a health bar damage per shot with the drones and suited aliens taking even less. How the hell did these things go from almost joke enemies in Mothership Zeta to absolute devestation in 76?

All right ignoring fallout to me aliens exist yet they haven’t had contact with earth or at least that we simple civilians in this planet know of why do i say this because you must be shitting me if you are telling me that on this infinite universe we are the only planet that contains some sort of intelligent life

Earth is not alone in the universe it is just that all of the intelligent non earth-based life of the universe has considered it to be a wasted cause except for the Zeta who nobody likes in the galactic political world because they are creepy little bulbous headed freaks who smell like rotten cabbage. And seemed to have an overly sickening desire to determine digestion expulsion systems for Waste as a hobby. They are quite literally aliens who only want to probe our butts because it makes them laugh Lots. Remember to protect your butt. Your booty only belongs to you, you see? they cannot be allowed to take your booty!

So in theory the safest human beings are the ones sealed in the vaults.

Which begs the question, why didn't the aliens bother with vault dwellers?

That's pretty interesting, as I didn't know of the UFO crash, and I am only 20 or so minutes from Hagerstown, MD.

I really love that the zetans are apart of the fallout lore because it's fun to imagine them interacting and scaring the shit out of the innocent simple minded folk of pre-war America, it really gives you a 70's alien horror vibe similar to that movie mars attacks. I think an entire game could be centered around the zetans because they're just so interesting and cool and there's just so much you can do with them, it's really disappointing that they've barely even been used in the games

cant blame the aliens. Think about it, youve been studying a society, a live breathing planet, green and beautiful. So simular to your own, this alone is astounding. you get many specimens to study and discect. One day, suddenly out of nowhere you watch the entire planet...Kill it self and explode multiple times for hours, now you must go check it out and abduct more of your specimens and run more tests just to see the differences between big boom and pre big boom specimens, and the de-evolution of a society.

Grey aliens or Zeta aliens are basically the main aliens that people talk about when they say anything about UFOS. So I was thinking that maybe the Zetans have a routine of checking up on Earth since the age of mankind on a daily basis because it is the closest to our solar system. Since the Zetans now have witnessed the destruction of most of the nations on earth, they can actually study the planet without worrying about being captured. Because if they do study humans, it could go two ways where they become good and help humans (maybe even somehow fix the US and most of the world) now that they have enough knowledge of Earth and not feel threatened OR they'll end up doing Fallout 3 protagonist and kill everyone. However, in the game, they're hostile towards the player, but in real life, they seem more neutral. I can understand them being frightened of us (since Mr. House wants to go to space and you know he can easily kill them with his robots! 💀)

I hope Bethesda, actually makes Zetans important in fallout 5 instead of just doing “Here are some Aliens to kill, have a free unique alien blaster that one shots enemies with a crit.” You can tell I'm a big fan in mythology, aliens, cryptids, and whatnot!😅

(Now if only we can explain the reason why Zetans/Grey Aliens crash so much🤔)

In my own head canon, the Zetans are in a prolonged conflict, either cold or outright, with another race. It would explain why they were breeding hybrids in an attempt to make some sort of front line soldier. If the race that Lorenzo spoke about in 4 was DIFFERENT, then it would open up some really cool back story. They had interacted with humanity in the past, the Zetans seized control of Earth from them, and then began studying Humans to find out what was interesting about us to the other Aliens. When the war started going badly, they started trying to make hybrids as cannon fodder. The idea that there is this galaxy spanning war going on that mirrors the the Sino-American War in a lot of ways, with both sides trying to develop ever stronger super weapons, is an entertaining one. It would be even cooler if both sides of the Great War were using technology that was reverse engineered from a different faction in the Galactic War. Maybe the Americans were using plasma weapons and power armor from Zetan tech, and the Chinese stealth suits as well as a few other pieces were from the Lorenzo aliens. It certainly makes for an interesting story

Only zealots and the people in power would be weary of aliens, to be honest we have accomplished nothing on the universal stage! we're still killing and maiming our own species while we proclaim apex status! no we are disgusting and vile a species not deserving of life let alone we should NEVER be allowed to spread our hate to the universe! and i don't see us changing not ever.

Abominations are possibly an advanced form of FEV created by the Zetans. Since FEV can be programmed with specific genes that you want it to change the "patient" into, such as the FEV strain programmed to create synths, and the strain programmed with Virgil's pre-mutation DNA. So it's possible that the Abominations are the result of Zetans experimenting with FEV.

i cant be the only one who thinks the existance of aliens and the idea of them causing the war kinda ruins the atmosphere fallout had. I love how it feels when you realize that the world is like this because of humans. It is the fault of governments, they caused all the awful things that go on in the wasteland

I think its suggested that the Zetans can travel through time. And is maybe trying to extract information from the ancestors of humanity who somehow created an intergalactic empire that they want to dig up information on so that they can fight it in the future.

Are we alone in the universe? No. Of course not. What hubris.

Think about it. How much life is there on Earth? I think in terms of metrics, it would be somewhere between 'a bunch' and 'a lot'

That's just one planet. In the night sky, every dot of light is a star, and most, if not all, have planets orbiting them. I'm sure humans have tried to count all the stars we can see, which is far from them all. Low guess, probably tens of thousands of stars? At least? Even with the most pessimistic view, the likelihood that we're alone, in such a huge galaxy? Nope. The math just doesn't work. It might take a million things to get a planet perfectly correct for life as we know it, but we know it's happened once, and the galaxy is more than big enough for it to happen a few more times.

My headcanon is that the Zetans aren't evil, they're just misunderstood. They have a negative connection with the aliens that built that mysterious city in the Arabian desert and are trying to either kill the Dunwich monster upon locating it or are trying to keep it from awaking should its powers be far too superior for them to stop. The Zetans themselves cannot be too close to areas where the monster and its unearthly beasts are, which is why their ships keep crashing in areas close to anything Dunwich related.

They know the monster's presence has an influence over the humans and has corrupted a great many of them, and from what we can gather from the Dunwich lore, it has corrupted those in power. The Zetans are only aggressive to humans because they do not whom was corrupted or how many, they can only run some tests, and the ones that turnout positive with the corruption become the abominations we see roaming the ship. Perhaps they're trying to reverse the corruption in humans or find ones that aren't corrupted to destroy the monster, hence (assuming you played as a good protagonist in F03) is why they put you and that woman in the same cell so they can use the good humans as vessels to take down the monster(s) once and for all. Sadly, your character interpreted the abduction as a danger and killed the aliens on board.

It also explains why they wanted the missle codes, perhaps to prevent humans from killing each other or to purge the Earth of all those that corrupted and were close to awakening the monster.

Was it ever mentioned which part of the earth the huge glowing crater is?

perhaps the zetans are near hive minded, but perhaps not
the zetans might not have the same hive mind or agressive nature as the likes of the xenomorphs from aliens, the zerg from star craft, the tyranids from warhammer
i belive the zetans might be more close in structure and behaviour to the aliens from the "Battle: lose angelas" - the ones nikcnamed 'landsharks'

why do i say this? their structure might be similar: the 'civlian' workers on the ship could indeed be just that, or they could be the commander class, regadrless of if they are the higher ups in the rank and file or are simply workers, their behaviour might be the same regardless: they arent violent and cower when threateened because they are NOT the class that is used to combat
maybe its being rasied as a such, maybe have some kind of programming implanted into their heads, maybe they are vat grown clones, regardless, the soldiers are not gonna cower because this fight is EXACTLY what they are raised, trained, created, programmed whatever - to do; fight to the death
the workers? they wouldnt know how to throw a punch to save their lives and they are probably afraid because they dont know how to properly respond to the stimuli of threats and combat; or they are simply afraid for their lives because they are more important then the soldiers are and as such as are allowed to keep their free-will and not undergo training, brainwashing or program implantation

think of the zetan soldiers as clone troopers from star wars; and their role in combat is that their inhibitor chip is ALWAYS active; they will ALWAYS throw their lives away fighting somthing they have no hope of beating because its all their programming allows
the civilian/worker class we can think of as the kamino scientists; they are the intelligence behind the operation but they have no inhibitor chip implanted to affect their intelect


as for WHY they are here? alot of suggestions is all we can really get at this point, but i have a few theories ready to go


suggestion 1: they are a technologically advanced race that has studied other life forms and are tired of only being "smart' they want the brawn to back it up
early attempts to make themselves not little more then nerds being bullied is the soldier class: they might raise or vat grow less intelligent zetans to be the foot soldier; they are not as smart as the less violent counter parts because they are the FIRST attempt at keeping the smarter of the group alive
what are they after? they seek to improve their species, kinda like how the Combine will do to conquered species in half life; they will take a more dangerous and dominant life form and try to splice it into their army

the abominations would be the zetans attempt to take their DNA, the DNA of the humans and make a loyal shock trooper that can be sent into earth to conquer it in their name without suffering losess - this would mean that the zetan 'soldier' is probably that, their version of a soldier or at the very least, a security detail as they HAVE the tech to make robots and such, why not change themselves with augmentations to better serve their purposes?


suggestion 2: the zetans are either DESPERATE to find a new world for whatever reason or are naturally dying off and have resorted to clonning/splicing their DNA with other creatures that have a planet that are similar to their home world - or maybe they need new soldiers for some war they in

maybe the species is just on a decline, maybe a disease, maybe even another hostile species of alien is forcing them into a losing war and they are off in search of other worlds that have the same atmosphere as their homeworld and hopfully find a more tougher species that they can splice into their genetic code to get a leg up on the enemy that are forcing them off their home world

for suggestion 2: think of it like this: you have access to cloning/DNA splicing tech - but you have tried splicing yourself with EVERYHING on your home world to get an advantage over this new threat that is forcing its way into your home world - whats left? you take to the stars to get NEW, better DNA to splice into your own so that you can clone better, tougher soldiers to send back against the hostiles taking away your homeworld
this theroy also fits with what we see of their classes and behaviour:
the civilian/worker class is the intelligence of the group, the actual individuals
the soldiers are clones they are vat grown to try and fight a war that they quickly found out they CANNOT win because their troops are just TOO weak in CQC, maybe the hostile species is just as advanced, maybe there are just too many - either way, the tech offered no advantage, so they resorted to cloning and splicing DNA
the abominations are what they hopped to make: a larger, tougher, more vicious clone that would go into the front lines and fight back against their enemies


maybe the zetans we see are in fact not the natural zetans; they could have been like the hanaar from mass effect; some jellyfish like alien that then was forced to start splicing its DNA with everything it could find
if thats the case, maybe its already too late for the "natural" zetans, maybe they are long dead and all thats left are the clones and spliced creatures they created in an attempt to keep their homeworld out of the hands of some other enemy

It seems as if we are just a test group for them to develope better technology perhaps to aid their wars with other advanced space-saving alian civilizations or splinter groups of their own.

If the motherships are primarily millitary vassals then they obviously don't know how to organize. I mean seriously they should have organized assaults from all parts of the ship to kill the player and the loose humans by they time he gets the others out of their cryo tube. It's as if they never prepared for a boarding of mass breakout.

My first encounter with an alien was in Fallout 4 in the cave and I just stared at it while it kept shooting at me and then I hear a single “BWAM” and it was dead. Preston blew its face clean off! I could see it’s skull! So cool!

Why do I feel the Sea of Tranquility Conflict was fought against the Zetans

Just a side note, one of the theories surrounding the vaults of fallout was that they were all test to see how humans would fair on a generation ship, a spacecraft that would house humans and other organisms, alongside taking them to another habitable planet after Earth was made a nuclear wasteland. While Vault-techs experiments are extremely cruel, at their core they wanted to test what type of humans they want going onto these ships, that being those who were Soulless, tough, flawless, alongside somewhat supportive of eugenic/social darwinistic ideals. Is some ways, the Zetans in the fallout dlc are what Vault Tech want humans to be

Whats the connection between zetans and the human civ precursors in fallout?

If I recall, the zetan obsession with the buttercups was because they planned to infiltrate human society with deathbots disguised as buttercups. It isn't a wholesome thing.

games like Helldivers and Fallout make me laugh because they don't go for the typical highly advanced aliens, or, at least, we're able to fight them one on one with moderate success. the Enclave and Super Earth reverse-engineering Alien technology to use it against them is hilarious.

My headcanon is that there are no aliens, the Zetans are actually ghouls from the lost civilization in the Cabot House story arc.

What i might think Is that were the Zetans the cause of the Roswell UFO Crash and the creation of Area 51 and i hope that one day Bethesda will include this in future Fallout games alongside new informations about their story
