I used to listen St Anger, when I am angry. It help me then.

I can see why a long time Metallica fan would’ve been disappointed when this album came out. I on the other hand was a young teen that was into SOAD and nu-metal and this album landed with me. It was my gateway to thrash.

I didn’t realize as a 7 year old being depressed (or angry) that a LOT of people had the same love and energy from this album. I’m glad to see it’s helped lots of people and honestly it’s A FIRE ASS ALBUM regardless of everything we’ve gone through. There’s a Documentary on this album PLEASE watch it it’s so good and worth the time and love they put into this album!

The weak link of this album is the vocals. Some really questionable lyrics, melodies and way too dry and up front in the mix. The opening tune, Frantic, is great until the vocals start. I get embarrassed for James when he does the bizarre "tic, tic, tic-tok" thing. Come to think of it, the vocals are the weak link on all their albums after Load and Reload; except maybe Death Magnetic.

I really don't get why the fans moaned about this album so much its fuckin awesome 🎉🎉

2023 and I still can't listen to this song without playing it ten times in a row. It stirs up so much emotion that needs to be dealt with. This album is as much therapy for us as it was for Metallica.

The album is good, the thing is that it is very inspired by Nu metal and system of a down, it is very noticeable where they got the ideas from to plant them on the album. But it's good. What a legends!

all of the complaints about the drum sound

sounds like Bells Ringing in massive Portentous Ominous Warning
type sound especially when the double bass
technique sound rushes in so fkng loud like war horse hooves

really get it together and just get yourself a good
equalizer for your stereo/sound system .
but, if not -
then whatever .

it is produced & mixed
i can play bass or guitar or vocals along
to this Album ,
on my Vox 'JamVox '
practice amplifier -
and i can still hear ( Lars Ulrich ) the drummer
with loud practice amplifiers turned up .

Okay, so it's 2023. I've never actually heard this album. Heard a lot of people talk a lot of shit about it. I've listen to a few songs, and I can see why people didn't care for it. The thing that sticks out the most (to me) is the god AWFUL mixing. Vocals are waaay too forward, can barely even hear the guitars and wtf is that snare? It's not even that the songs are that bad it just literally sounds terrible.
