It's interesting though the idea that the event this film is inspired by is a big mystery is a huge case of journalists being too arrogant to listen to local wisdom. Locals are very vividly aware that there is a psychoactive plant that people in the area hike out to find and that it is known to cause the problems that the expedition faced. The locals don't see it as a mystery at all because it played out exactly how they'd seen things play out for dumb teenagers in their own communities who abused the plant.
This fact will routinely be denied because the plant in question hasn't yet been tested in a modern laboratory, and the people with first hand experience and who have witnessed people under the influence are written off as lying or simply incapable of making a judgement call since they are not licensed researchers.

Really really enjoyed this movie. It’s a cheap found footage movie that is entertaining throughout the entire movie imo. I also enjoyed “As Above, So Below” and “The Frankenstein Theory” as well. Big fan of found footage movies that have to do with actual legendary stories (Philosopher’s Stone, Frankenstein’s monster, and this one with Dytlov’s Pass). I don’t necessarily need an original story about some other mystery the writer came up with. Just give me your take on one of the thousands of mysteries we’ve all heard over the years. Someone needs to do a found footage movie about the holy grail or some other religious artifact everyone knows…Easy money. Ask Indiana Jones how that worked out for him 😁

Fun fact: People undressing in freezing temperatures is actually realistic and makes sense. When experiencing severe hypothermia, people can start to feel very warm, which, together with there severely impaired mental capacities, might cause them to undress despite the very low temperatures. At least that's what I've heard, not entirely sure if it's true.

Also, gotta admit, if I went to some small remote village in a non-english country and met a guy who speaks english, I'd 100 % not trust him at all lmao.

Hyperthermia leads to Ppl feeling hot. That's why some Ppl that got lost or stuck in the Antarctic, stripped off their Clothes and jumped into the Water to cool off.

First! The mountain is not called: Mountain of the Dead but: Dead Mountain. That is an essential difference. You have to know the symbolism of the mountain. The indigenous people know the difference. That's why they wrote warning signs: "Don't go there!". What I saw here in the video: bullshit to the power of 10.
