Ответитьmaximum CFM is afforded by an elliptical bellmouth. the ellipse is the most aerodynamic shape for this purpose. a simpe radius is not as affective at eliminating vena contracta.
basic principles such as these do not warrant internet time, or bandwidth, or video. lets get down to the nitty gritty and have a proper technical discusssion. this beginner-level bullshit is simply a waste of everyones time.

Is the intake runner length more important than velocity stacks? Or are both combined a better option?
Bowlings intake runner calculator says i need a runner length of aroun 13.75 inches.

ОтветитьHello, I bought some velocity stacks for my motorcycle but I didnt know when buying them that they fit over the throttle bodies instead of sitting flush with the throttle bodies. This is now creating a lip for the air when transferring from the velocity stack to the throttle bodies. How bad is this? Should i get some new ones that do sit flush with the throttle bodies? Thanks!

ОтветитьIf you really want to learn about individual runner intakes, you really should get some motorcycle tuning publications.
At present, your 're-inventing the wheel' from stuff that's been out since 1940's (P.E.Irving, Tuning for speed, 1948)
David Vizard has been publishing articles since late 1960's plus has many tuning books that apply to any four stroke engine
There are plenty of formula to calculate tuned intake length rather than just guessing +/-10mm.
You need valve events to use formula though (intake open/close, exhaust open/close)
It's also well known that a taper will spread the effect of a tuned length over a wider RPM range so making tuned length less critical to mm changes

ОтветитьThe conanda effect makes air follw any curve so if you blow air on your table with hair dryer and it edge is rounded the air will flow down!
So on a V stack that curve grabs alot more air and smoothly !

ОтветитьI'm doing similar things as you with my printer. I also have a CNC mill. I use both. Recently brought a Bambu Lab CX1 and I can't recommend it highly enough. Its been 100% hassle free, just plug and play.

Ps: I know nothing very little about engineering.

ОтветитьI e made some velocity stacks for motorcycles na Frye funny thing is I always beat the stock stacks by at least 8-10hp. I’m not sure why I get a consistent range above stock but when compared to another version that was almost 300 bucks, I beat those as well hands down. I’ve noticed most people use a rounded trumpet end but line are pretty sharp. Maybe it allow the air to be cut and sucked in faster. Anyways, multiple dyno pulls back to back and mine stay above the 8-10 HP gain from stock. Stacks are so much fun to design. It’s amazing how radical you can make the design and get the exact same performance from.

ОтветитьIts easier to make air filters . Common practice on F2 sidecars . Common OEM filters produce less than 25 mm drop across them . Most filter mediums are commonly available . Stainless steel mesh is pretty cheap as is aluminium if you don't have a lathe for spinning or a 3D printer and your happy with your existing stacks . The radius of the inlet is more important than any other part of the design .
