When you asked about stolen phones that’s your western mentality because it’s what you are used to.
People seem nice

Unfortunately, you have visited the worst places in Sousse, those whose even the locals do not frequent. Sousse is called the coast pearl especially for what was the downtown and how was the atmosphere and the night life there, but look what incompetence and mass tourism made this downtown look like.
But it still a lot to discover in Sousse, like Hergla, Takrouna ...

I wanted to clarify a few points about the used clothes market and the local interactions you've experienced. In many Western countries, people donate clothes to organizations for charity. These organizations often choose to sell these clothes to third-world countries rather than donating them directly, which helps generate funds for their charitable activities. The clothes are then bought, cleaned, sorted, and sold by local vendors at markets like the one you visited.

Regarding pricing, vendors typically start with higher prices which you can negotiate down. It's a daily business routine, not just for tourists but also for locals. It's important to understand that these vendors operate on very small margins, so they try to maximize their earnings when they can. For instance, the price of tea at 2 dinars per cup is reasonable; while you might find it cheaper elsewhere, the difference may be minimal for you but significant for them. Locals often don't ask for their change back to support small businesses, as the vendors don't make much profit.

As for the Ralph Lauren pants priced at £2.5, locals would consider this a good deal without hesitation.

Regarding the cautionary advice you received everywhere, it's likely due to being in a non-touristy area where you might stand out as a potential target. Locals are genuinely concerned for your safety, which reflects their hospitality and care.

After watching your videos, it seems your experience, though challenging initially due to taxi issues in Sousse, isn't as negative overall. It seems that you prefer backpacking and discovering local places rather than visiting tourist spots, which might be why you didn't enjoy Sousse as much.
Perhaps the video title might have exaggerated things a bit. I'd love to hear more about the positive experiences you've had, like the free offerings and warm welcomes from locals. It's clear they're eager for you to enjoy Tunisia to its fullest. Wishing you the best for the rest of your trip and all it has in store!

We ❤ Ellis and Alicia because they are close to the life of the simple Tunisian citizen and they benefited from this experience, unlike the majority of tourists who spend their day in the hotel. Greetings to Alicia, with whom I share a love of medicinal and natural plants, and greetings to Ellis, with whom I share spontaneity in life, whether joy or anger, and I host you both for free in my home in the southwest of Tunisia.😉

The history of colonialism and exploitation by Western countries has indeed involved the extraction of wealth and resources from colonized nations. This has had long-lasting economic, social, and political impacts on those countries. Many Western nations have benefited historically from this exploitation, leading to significant wealth disparities between the Global North and South.

Remember this truth before you judge other people for your $1 clothes.

When visiting another country, it's important to show respect for the local culture, traditions, and people. Being respectful helps create a positive experience for everyone and fosters mutual understanding. Every country has its own unique way of life, and embracing these differences can lead to a more enriching and enjoyable visit.(You are discovering a new lifestyle while invading their own country so..). Remember as a guest , your behavior reflects not only yourself but also on your home country. Respecting others' cultures and norms is a fundamental part of being a considerate and responsible traveler . Other than that as you might know every place in the world has its good and bad aspects. It's important to recognize both sides and appreciate the unique qualities that each location offers. Sousse, like any other city, has its challenges, but it also has a lot of beauty, history, and culture that make it special. Understanding and respecting these differences can help us appreciate the diversity in our world .Altho everyone has their own perspective my own experiences and those of many others who have visited or lived in Sousse show a different perspective and it was such a memorable trip personally so let’s try to be fair and look at the full picture or at least look at it from a different angle cause It seems like you’re focusing on the negative aspects for some reasons and overlooking some important facts .Sousse has a rich history and vibrant culture that locals are proud of, and being respectful can enhance your experience and theirs. Whether it's observing local customs, being mindful of cultural norms, or simply being courteous, showing respect helps create a positive atmosphere.

We all know what Tunisia is, with the good and bad things. You little english kid walking around and trashing people that are being so welcoming to you . The prices that were given to you are actually Tunisian prices, you are just so poor to afford that. Cheap mentality that you got brah, grow up and dont tell people to piss off, we respect old people, you could have just said, I dont want thanks( if he understood what you said you would fly back to UK without a tongue) . A lot of things to mention, but you dont deserve my time, I will make sure to report your channel for hate speech. Btw we travel to European countries and we spend like there is no tomorrow. This is our origin and and that’s what our religion teach us , but if You despise our country, we will remind you of your black past, and that you invented the high heels, so that you don't walk on your faeces , all you got in ur country been rubbed from somewhere else don’t forget

my advice to foreigner is to avoid large tourist cities people are hustling there because they depend on tourism since 2015 those cities lost alot of tourists, hotels closed and scams are commun because of that. When you travel to cities where the local economy doesn't depend on tourism and people are self sufficient you will feel welcome and people are helpful and honest.

Thank you for posting your Tunisia videos. They are the best out there and show the true kindness of the Tunisian people. I am American and have a small home in Sousse that I try to visit each year, so I want to stick up for Sousse as it's my second home. For families on vacation, it is a great destination as it is safe and convenient. Yes, you'll generally pay a bit more for things due to that, but there is a lot to see and do and the beaches and resorts are great. You will find many other travelers, usually Europeans, on vacation as well. Port el Kantaoui and the harbor are so much fun to visit. Sousse also has the very best shopping mall in all of Tunisia. The restaurants and nightlife are great. It's an absolutely wonderful town.

But... I completely agree with you from your perspective. It is not a good spot for hardcore travelers like yourselves. I just want to call out that the people in the video were quite kind and friendly to you, and I agree with someone's comment that the people who were telling you to be careful were just being overly cautious. I have learned that they hold safety of tourists, and foreigners in general, in very high regard and it's a shame to them if something happens. Most of what I have seen are petty, poverty related crimes, of which are not even very common.

Next time, be sure to visit Touzer, and you must go all the way through Kelibia to Haouaria!

I hate the fact that shops (and any other services like restaurants, beaches , etc... ) are destinated only for tourists and they use tourists prices of course , locals dont buy anything from them , and the worst part is when all the people of the city develop a "tourists prices technique"
i hate also the fact that no one is thinking how annoing is this for locals and tourists, and that this is not how touristic places should be !

With all respect of what you thinking ,you visited SOUSSA, and by ur own word ,u said that ur NOT keen on big Touristic Town , so why u visisited it and gave negative impressions about the Heart of Touristic industries in whole north africa !? I think you went there full of prejudices and ill advices . and that not fair on the " SOUSSIENS ", you have no idea how decent they are , how proud ,generous and tolerate and helpful, Sure me and others feel sorry for you with bad experience on taxi ,transport and some Tunisians ( foreigners .: NOUZOUH ) who made that Big City a mess ,nevertheless, SOUSSA IS THE BEST , THE PEARL OF MEDITERRANEAN SEA...THE HEART OF TUNISIA ❤.
All the best again , However sure the "SOUSSIEN " will NOT TOLERATE SUCH NEGATIVE COMMENTS from you , or anyone else in the world .therefore i believe you lost a huge 'Shank' of admirers and followers , including me

You seem like the kind of people that would visit Ukraine in it's current state and complain that the people there weren't very nice and it's was dirty because it had bombs going off. Why visit somewhere that has no appeal to you at all and have a complete disregard for another culture. See it this way: a Tunisian visiting England with our Social acceptance for LGBT etc. or veganism. To them that would be crazy.

I seriously don't understand why people think somewhere is awful because of a difference in culture. That's part of travelling to places, especially such as this.

Disgusting and disrespectful behaviour. No wonder countries don't like UK tourists

Tunisian here, Sousse is by far the worst touristic area. It's as if one of the cleaner and safer touristic areas had sex with the shithole known as Tunis and gave birth to Sousse.
Sure, it has nice bars, hotels, restaurants and that kind of commodities, but it's also filthy, crime-infested, crowded, has more scammers than any other area and every shop owner is a piece of shit who overcharges anyone who isn't from Sousse (yes, that includes Tunisians from other regions). Word of advice: If you want a stereotypical unproblematic beach holiday, go to Hammamet or Djerba. Sousse is just for people who look for drugs and prostitution.
