In Mongolian culture, Oboos are considered sacred places or religious shrines where you can bring offerings. They serve as a place of worship of heaven, lead by Shamans and the elders of the community, but they are also used for Buddhist ceremonies as well. Back in the days, Oboos were also served as land markers for travelers to know their location and have a safe haven.
In my hometown, the ceremony is usually held on 5.13th (in the lunar calendar). People bring mutton, dairy food and other offerings to worship our oboo and walk around the oboo the ceremonious three times wishing for rain, blessings, and positive vibes for all. But our oboo, in my hometown, there is a tradition that women don’t go up near to the oboo and that’s why I don’t have any videos of the oboo.
