Good job. Need to research more on those metal gears you're talking about for the roof.
Also, you failed to address the Remote Entry , Alarm System n Keys (remote) that deteriorates easily..
I just downloaded and read the Buyers Guide. Thank you so much! I going to look at a 2001 Porsche Boxster S with 80K miles today. The Buyers Guide is very helpful.
ОтветитьBrian. Very nice video. I'm in the market for a 986 or 987 and this was very helpful.
ОтветитьSay, what year was this car ? And I've been looking at some 2008 Boxsters, do they have IMS trouble and if so how do In tell if they need an IMS bearing? Thanks for your help, Dutchy...
ОтветитьI don’t understand how you can gloss over how bad of a shape that boxster is in. Headlights were all yellow, ton of paint defects, horrible wear on seats. This isn’t a Honda. People typically take care of porsches. This one has not been taken care of.
ОтветитьThat top would be nice in crimson red. Love the video, so much real world insight.
ОтветитьCheck list is brilliant - thanks!
ОтветитьThanks for the information, Brian! If my crypto coins hold up, I’ll be in the market for a car toy soon!
ОтветитьBasically it's a 911 with panties. I would not tell a woman I had a Porsche and pick her up in that .
ОтветитьI love the looks of the Boxster and the Cayman. Especially the Cayman !However, I'm 6' 3: 230 lbs. I can't find anything comfortable in either of these cars. So, I had to go back to the Porsche 911 Carrera. Plenty of room for my big body. Yep,I love my 911..
ОтветитьVery useful and informative. Subbed.
ОтветитьIt looked so fresh and sharp standing there :) Would not have guessed the top colour if my life depended on it lol... Driver seat looks battered, and don't waste 20 bucks on an OBD which cannot read shit Porsche specific, spend 100 and get everything except the stuff you should not mess with anyway...
ОтветитьI found a 99 for sale, nut when I put the key in it and turn it, NOTHING happens....NOTHING.
ОтветитьVery thorough and informative video thank you
ОтветитьTop needs to be some kind of color, overall nice car.
ОтветитьWhat the!?! I’ve only just seen this! Perhaps I should’ve watched before buying mine 😂
ОтветитьI have a question. I talked to a retailer that told me That 2005 Models boxster don’t have the IMS and Bore scoring issues. It’s a black base model with 97k miles on it and he is asking $17500?
ОтветитьTotal BS that Porsche didn't take care of the customers that lost their engines far too early over a issue they were well aware of, this was never an issue with the air cooled engines.
ОтветитьThe Glovebox was added in 2003, some of which were manufactured in 2002, but they were nonetheless 2003 model year.
ОтветитьHi - thanks so much - just viewed the vid and very good - I did try to download your checklist and I received a message to say the domain was no longer reachable. Is there a way I can download the checklist? Thanks for the help - appreciated 🙂
ОтветитьBrian. The link to the 3 page PPI form you offer is not working. Please help me get that form. TY !!
Ответитьthanks for this vid, checking out a 986 boxster S!
ОтветитьOwning a Porsche can be fun. but the first thing you better realizes is you better have a couple wheelbarrel loads of disposable cash. Porsches are very very very expensive to have the engines repaired. That’s why some Porsche owners drive them to the last minute, before they need to repair them then they sell them. Why I said that is I’ve learned from experience I have a 1974 Porsche 911 air cooled and I was very naïve buying the car. Now the car needs major engine work now with inflation supply chain shortages and all the problems after COVID-19 to have the engine rebuilt is prohibitively expensive
ОтветитьEver tried an engine swap, Brian, from a 2.7 to a 3.2?
ОтветитьTiptronic v. Manual… less or more maintenance?
ОтветитьI like the white or yellow dial! Good tip on temperature @ 180 / 4K rpm.
ОтветитьCheck coolant cap! #01 or 04? 01 is susceptible to leaking. I changed mine out to 04.
Ответить“986” is not the original badge. As to factory, it should say “Boxster.” This would be an aesthetic mod. Someone customized it which is a matter of preference. Looks nice with the gold v. factory default black letter color.
ОтветитьThe maroon Boxsters do come with gray, black or tan tops. This looks like an original gray top to match the interior not black.
ОтветитьIm not sure where he is getting his pricing. These cars keep going up. When this video was made I got my 98 in mint condition with 18 thousand miles for 18 thousand. Now in 2022 I wouldn't sell it less than 22 thousand. Paperwork, car fax, maintenance records and care play a big part in what you will pay. The low end might be around 6 grand but no way in hell would you get a clean car like mine for 12 grand unless that owner didn't know the value. It's hard to find even a clean 944 for 12 grand.
ОтветитьNice review. Loved the seat light belt description.
ОтветитьGood review of the basics, but not sure why the author thinks you can tell if the IMS is bad from looking at the floor. A bad RMS would certainly leak, but not the IMS. Best advice is to remove oil filter and cut it open to look for metal filings. Very easy to do and good assurance that the IMS isn't starting to fail. The IMS issue is grossly overblown, but regularly checking the filter at oil changes can give some piece of mind. Or spend the $3K+ and replace it.
ОтветитьHmmmm. Find car to purchase. Give money to owner and sign sales documents. Take car away from previous owner. Register car in your name. Uhmmm that's about it:))))))))
ОтветитьWow so real
Ответить02 doesnt have a glove box
ОтветитьThat is a really interesting informative video. Thanks for taking so much trouble.
ОтветитьBought a Boxster with confidence thanks to this PPI video. An absolute must watch for prospective buyers. Can't thank you enough. Thank you!
ОтветитьGet to the point.... IMS bearing ...
ОтветитьGreat video! I like the way that you explained the proper way to drive the car! It needs high revs to stay healthy! It needs required oil changes and use only top quality lubricants! These are wonderful little cars, probably one of the best cars that Porsche has mass produced! and, they are a bargain to boot! I have a 2000 Boxster base model! I've had it for about six years now! I also own a 718 Cayman! Both are great cars!
ОтветитьGreat job Dude!! Appreciate your details.
ОтветитьGreat video! Thorough check. Thank You!
ОтветитьSome concern that CarFax didn't log consistent oil changes which is important for life of IMS & RMS bearings. Generally, Tiptronics have fewer IMS issues as the torque converter absorbs / smooths the torque of gear changes which reduces stress on the IMS bearing & chains. The Tip by ZF is actually an amazing transmission if driven a bit more aggressively as it adapts to driving style. Very clean car overall. The mini-PPI should include looking under tseparating
ОтветитьDont buy an auto
ОтветитьYour buying checklist link no longer seems to work... but thank you for the video.
ОтветитьIms Shaft. You dont want to know what it is😅
ОтветитьGood until bearings go and motor gets fried
ОтветитьGreat video! New subscriber
