Archery elk hunting is fun and challenging, then throw in the wolves you end up calling in wolves or the elk run hunting over, that's why in montana will kill wolves they have ruined hunting no elk, deer, or grouse. Colorado will find out soon enough just like Washington Idaho Wyoming montana and probably Oregon

I honestly don't even really like bow hunting but rifle season is a joke here on the coast. There's a ton of people during archery season but its insane how many flatlanders there are.they have just ruined it. I think there should be a special season for non-residents/city folk.

Serious question. I’ve been deer hunting for 30 years, and tend to be quite successful, but I’ve only elk hunted once and admit I’m a novice. To me, these guys seem to be overthinking this in the extreme, to the point it inhibits their hunting, but I could be wildly off-base. Is this the level of analysis for the most successful elk hunters?

Estrus scent would be a no brainer if you can get it. Stuff works. And it over powers the human scent. Bull doesn't care about human if there is a cow in heat in the middle of them. Use if for whitetail hunting all the time in a tree stand.

Looks like the south side of my Umatilla unit. Got a total of 11 days this year in elk woods to get it done. 10 more days to the start of my trips!

I find it silly how I read into people's faces sometimes. This time, once it was confirmed they'd gotten skunked, I was looking at the way Charlie looked at Jason and thought to myself, "He has the look of someone who wants to say, 'But, you promised me elk!'" Hahahaha. I have no way of knowing if that were true, of course. Regardless, nice country, nice calling, fun hunt. Thanks for sharing.
