Pathfinder Kingmaker: How To Respec Trash Characters Into Good Characters! [Mod]

I would say Valerie works as intimidating characther but 60% of the time you will be facing enemies that cannot be affected and some of the strongest enemies aren't affected by it. But at least you can give some use to Bastard swords instead of just selling them.

Late comment but whoever modeled Valerie is out of their mind, ye cool she cuts her hair but nothing about her face even gives a hint of the beauty described in the story, Amiri is god tier next to her. She has the most masculine face ever. This bugged me forever when playing the game. Thank god for mods.

tbf, part of why they have weird modifiers like Valerie's +2 Charisma is because of kingdom management. If you take away her +2 CHA then you're basically turning your best regent into a shitty one. XD

Valerie's CHA 15 is on top of the usual 20-point build for companions, it doesn't cost her anything. Compare that to Amiri, who gets higher-than-required mental stats for a barbarian without any compensation. Anyway, you should get rid of her tower shield ASAP - a -2 to hit isn't worth the +2 AC she gets compared to a normal heavy shield.

I find Tristian the more useless of the pre-made companions - he can't melee or range, and most of cleric spellcasting should be done out of combat, since it's mostly buffs. I usually get him using his domain ability to give someone else a bonus to attack rolls with his standard action, and that's awful. Harrim may be clumsy, but give him a longspear and you got a somewhat decent contribution to combat on top of his spells. That, and he is 100% loyal and will NOT disappear on you.

I will just do it with my character I took some aweful decisions. Lvl 1 barbarian, lvl1 two handed fighter, level 2 magus haha, it sucks

None of them are fine for hardest difficulty sliders. They are fine for normal games. This is why a lot better to do this if you want to see some npc story. Hardest difficulty works better with min-maxed mercenaries.

Valerie 1fighter 4 sorc 4 dd 10EK 1sorc. Her personal quest gives her +2str +2cha so she ends without eq with 20 str, 14(+1) dex, 20(+1) con, 20(+3) cha. This is a build for mid-late game though because she really need EK levels to begin to hit things while blasting them to pieces and it takes some time until you get decent bastard swords, oppressor first and then unstoppable khanda. A dreadful carnage self-buff melee tank in full armor & fire (gold dragon +1 fire dmg fits her) evocation blaster merged into 1 character, what's not to like?

Amiri can't tank, that's why you use her as a support tank and let her kill things at distance with enlarge person and lethal accuracy. Once the duration of your enlarge person spell becomes decent, she starts to shine.

Update: version 2.0.8 of the game allows you to respec all characters (main and NPC). 3 for free at low levels, than cost 10K+ each (yeah, adding gold does not feel like cheating in that case: seriously).

The Charisma is not uselss if you make a build to go along with it ; as many have. That said, I am here to respec some NPCs :P
For Amira, though : you are totally right : her Int and Char should be way much lower even just based on RP. :D

For some reason the mod ignores how i make my char look. I get a random elf model ingame.

I play the game for first time, im not far, but I think Amiri is quite inteligent and charismatic so far, so stats are right by lore perspective

For Valerie instead of a mod, I just at lv2 change her into a hardcore fey wildshape druid.

Valerie isn't trash she's just not a DPS class. Absence of damage potential is not a build fail (that's what a tank is)
And her Charisma is not useless it's just that you cant figure a use for it: if only there was a skill that uses cha (use magical device - and boom her usefulness skyrockets) (Dazzling Display - she's not attacking she's taking hits and debuffing the whole field every turn)
All the opinions you seem to denote an over emphasis on damage. You need to strategize more and realize that this isn't Diablo 3

Valerie is a build for Intimadation, Dazzling Display, Shatters and a big pool of health. if you want the enemies to run in terror, dip her in one lvl of thug (recomemded, but not necesary), she will do lots of dmg without the need of lots of AP.

There's a mod, Bag of Tricks, or something like that, where you can mod stats, skills, money etc. It's all in, highly reccomend it.

Do Valerie's Ice Queen tendencies ever defrost as you get to know her? She seems like she could be such a great character and a person, but my gosh! That attitude on her.

I can think of worse fates in life than everyone thinking you're beautiful. And FAR better ways, for that matter, of dealing with it than leaving behind everything you've ever known including your family and god.

Min maxes must have brain problems, the game is super easy even as is.

Y'all kidding? Valerie is the perfect meat-shield. She's not supposed to hit everything; she's supposed to crank her AC up past 30 and just tank.

I'm early in a game, about to be level 6. It says this reverts them to level 0, so would I have to to relevel them?

CHA on Valerie has a purpose of being able to make her a Regent. She is a decent Regent because of her LN alignment, but... her CHA is still too low to be a good Regent.
The perfect build would be a tanky LN (not LG!) Paladin... and a backstory of leaving a service of useless deity for useful one... which is unfortunately not allowed by Pathfinder rules and game mechanics.

Important Question.. Will the respec mess any of the companion up lets say for example if you change stats or someone that is good nuetural to lawful good .. will it mess up their interaction in the game like camp fire dialoges or romance counters? cuase i respecc valarie and she doesn't talk ever. Help thank you

@Reign Survives: does the respec affect Amiri's, or Valerie's dialogue in-game? Do they become basically mercenaries after the respec or do they retain their companion dialogue and quest lines?

Their is nothing wrong with Valerie she is meant to be a super OP tank, a tank that can stand and be attacked by multiple creatures and bosses and survive. She is not a damage dealer like Amiri that is not her job. Speaking of Amiri their is nothing wrong with her either she is a fighter who is built for damage

I think I'm going to use these tricks to get rid of Diehard. I didn't know that feat was so garbage. That feat causes my character to perma-death every time.

Thank fuck for this mod. I just hate how BORING their base clases are. If they were any more basic, Nickelback would play every time they are on screen. Not to speak about the fact, that Mad Dog is just vastly superior to the normal Barbi in every way. And, you know, that Valerie IS a Paladin by her own admission, and has the stats for it, just not the fucking time in the day to actually grab the class instead of "Look at meh, i have a tower shield. That's all my class can do. Hold it."

Not only that, they don't even have the proper stats for it. AAAARGH. And why the fuck are Mercs 20 pts instead of 25? What, they were so afraid we wouldn't give a fuck about the main characters, we would build custom parties and they punished us for it?

So I downloaded the mod and installed and everything was good but not I cannot respec anyone...I wanted to respect Tristan and I get to the screen click to pay the 1000 gp and nothing happens...was there maybe a patch???

50 seconds in, and it sounds like you just dont know how she functions as a Tank. She's not suppose to be about damage; she's suppose to be a damage sponge... Which she's amazing at. I always keep her on my team, because if you know how to manage aggro (i really hate that term, it just sounds silly to me), You shouldnt have a problem in most fights. Shoot. At lvl 2, i had her at 30 AC, and she protected the team Amazingly.

Same situation with Amiri, it sounds like you just dont know how to use or spec her. She's great at dps. I dont really care much for the barbarian class (never did, even in actual pathfinder, and not this limited steam version of Kingmaker), so i multiclassed into twohanded fighter, and yea.. she murders everything. I just have her go down the cleave spec, and help boost her AC.

Complaining about their stats is also wrongly assessed. Like... In DND and Pathfinder, an attribute score of 10 is where the average human is suppose to be. So Amiri have 16 strength points to her being kinda freakishly strong. A 16 means she's nearly as strong as a centaur or minotaur. And game mechanic-wise... Valerie having a 10 wisdom score is what you'd expect from a fighter. They arent about making will saves, Fighters get two strong saves and one poor save; Fortitude and Reflex for their strongs, and Will for their poor. Boosting their wisdom score is usually looked down upon optimization-wise, because you're dumping points into wisdom, which is handicapping their class overall. Fighters are suppose to focus on their physical attribute scores, not mental. Complaining about a fighter not having enough points in wisdom, is like complaining that your wizard isnt strong enough.

And charisma isnt just about attitude, its also your appearance. She may not be the most charming person, but i guess storywise she's suppose to be somewhat attractive, which overall balances her out to have an Average charisma score for a human.

Sidenote: You need to remember Pathfinder and other DND games are Designed for RolePlaying; thats a big part of the reason why the character's stats are the way they are. They're not min/maxed, they're made to be an actual character.

AH the feeling when you are not alone in this matter

Not sure how you had trouble with Valerie. I fighter and stalwart defender with her. With cleric buffs and good resistance gear she is very nearly unkillable. Mine currently with some full plate +2 and tower shield she has over 35 AC.

Trash characters are one thing but atleast RPG like, what really annoys me are those loading screens. For Example you create a new Village and get a new quest giver there.

Starting on the kingdom map creating that village - Going to Throne Room - loading screen - Capital Square - loading screen - World Map - loading screen - Going into a village - loading screen - talking to the quest giver - world map - loading screen - kingdom map - loading screen - build screen - loading screen - kingdom map - loading screen - world map - loading screen - Throne room - loading screen - Capital Square - loading screen - World map - loading screen - Enter Village - loading screen - Talking to the quest giver ....
do I need to go on? I mean so many freaking unnecessary loading screens. I never used my 2nd display so much. And then some of those quests are made so badly. The NPC comes to the capital in the Throne Room with the Message "Come to me". Then you go to that damn village with that quest giver and he gives you a letter for the merchant in your own city. I mean WTF. This freaking NPC was in the Capital right about 50 feet from the one who should receive the letter. And even if the NPC didn't want to give the letter herself to the merchant, she could have brought that letter to me in the Capital City so I wouldn't have do endure 500000 loading screens just to deliver ONE letter.

Don't get me wrong, I really like this game but there were some clearly bad development decisions making the game unbearable at times. They have no proper quest flagging. No proper Resource and Cache Management System (LOL - clearing the whole cache and loading everything fresh every time - hilarious). No proper Menu System. I mean why can't I access the kingdom map or build menu directly from a village? No I have to endure 5 billion loading screens just to Setup ONE building. Freaking awful at best.
