I knew you'd give an honest comparison. I would have been shocked if you had picked the cartridge. For me, multiple-bladed (at least more than 2 blades) razors oftentimes didn't give me a close and comfortable shave. It could be that I used the cartridges beyond their useful life because of the high price of replacement blades. I don't consider myself a shaving snob but I do puff my cheeks and stretch my skin. However, I don't do the contortion maneuvers that you exaggerated 😱For me, I get a closer shave when the skin is taught. Plus, I enjoy the closest shave I can tolerate. You'd most likely call me one of those shavers who chases the BBS. To each his own. That's what YMMV is all about...right 😉

I use mach3 and de razors. If I use de razors for a while and switch to mach3 my face has a break out.
However, if I use mach3 for a while it settles down and breaks out again if I switch back to de shaving.

Excellent shave Tony even though the Fusion 5 is a great razor but in cartridge for me Less is more I hope you know what I mean. The sensor Excel is one of my favourite razors that razor has a lot of memories for me . My Son actually started shaving with that razor when he was in 8th standard so it's an emotional razor for me.

I had some redness too, on my mustache area, with the Exfoliating bar razor, when I had not shaved for like a week..... But that Razor has been my favorite of all time! I just shave every day or every other day with it and its perfect! I wont ever buy another razor as long as Gillette continues to make them.

Wow what a great shave wars! I have the Gillette labs and after 4 shaves it’s the smoothest shave I’ve ever had in my life and my first Gillette razor. I did however knick myself because of exactly what you were saying with the lack of technique needed and the speed of the shave. I was wondering is that DE worth it for someone’s first because of the adjustable handle? Or is there a better DE for beginners? Just curious I will probably stick with my Gillette labs for the most part. Also I did get a shave brush and used it with gel and was surprised to find out that even with gel it makes a huge difference. Btw is there any sensitive skin shave soaps you recommend? I want to try a soap instead of a gel eventually. I might need that camo handle too 😂 it’s a great razor!

Now that the King C. Gillette DE razor has been out for a few years and clearly a success I hope Gillette will soon announce another DE, this time preferably something from or based on one of their classic designs, or even a true new original. I absolutely love my KCG DE but the head is obviously that classic 80+ year old merkur design, which tbf is easily among the ultimate "anyone on earth" comfortable de razor shaves. Gillette clearly have the resources and data to produce a hit.
