PART 2 | Were you able to figure out why this devastating collision took place? Investigators must discover why this devastating collision happened and ensure that it never happens again.

During the interview with the air traffic controller on duty, investigators discovered that another plane had entered the LAX's controlled air space (the TCA) without permission. The third-party plane could have distracted the controller and stopped him from seeing the Cherokee on his radar. The crew on both aircrafts seemed oblivious to each other minutes before the crash took place.

He wasn't paying attention, he was in his glory flying his brand new plane and ignored everything he wasn't supposed to do. Meanwhile, he not only killed his own family, he killed many other's too!!! It wasn't the ATC's fault at all. Just bad timing. I hope he returned to work. That blood isn't on his hands!! All that pilot had to do was to follow his flight plan, if he got lost he could've just followed his compass east towards Big Bear mountain. It's hard to miss, it's the big mountain on his left just before the high desert!!!

Last line: "Since the implementation of TCAs there hasn't been another mid air collision in the United States." Well, not exactly, as recently as three months ago two aircraft mid-aired near Denver, BUT, not likely either of them had TCAS... as it is not required on all aircraft.

Why are VFR pilots allowed to obtain a license? They joke about IFR pilots by calling it I Follow Roads. Real funny, Ha Ha. 😭

The air controller who took a cigarette break leaving a novice air controller to take over is in my opinion just as much at fault as the guys in the small aircrafts.

Thats exactly how these things happen......people don't pay enough attention to what they're doing or get distracted by something and it takes only seconds for a disaster to culminate.

That is really sad that small airplanes are not allowed to have all the up-to-date equipment that your passenger larger planes have to have they should follow aviation rules everybody should have some type of tracker or whatever they talking about in their airplane because if not this is the results one life lost is too many life lost

This is why small personal planes should not be allowed in the same air space as large passenger planes. You can't take a go kart on a large very busy freeway and expect nothing to happen.

The term "Air Traffic Controller" is a misnomer. They are actually advisors. They have zero control over an aircraft.

This may be a dumb question but do the stabilizers have backups just in case they fail or break off? Because I know almost every other plane component has a backup should something catastrophic occur.

Can't believe LA X were using outdated equipment, especially equipment with a history of intermittent failure, that is criminal negligence. Plus anytime a new controller is learning the trade someone should be assessing him or her at all times during their training period. To me that program creates a huge weakness in their system that was not addressed. My heart breaks for Walter White, yeah to some degree it may have been his fault but with his lack of experience and all the other issues that were contributing factors to this disaster, it was not his fault by a long shot. I can't imagine the amount of Ptsd that Walter has had to endure that should've been avoided. Its sad to hear, Unfortunately Walter White the controller was later murdered by a family member of some of the victims. In 1986

Sound editing is really messed up in numerous places with narration layered over other dialog, alarms, sirens, crashes. It's impossible to understand the narration, or the dialog it's layered over, in any of these places. Why sabotage your content like this?
