Is the 3DConnexion SpaceMouse Worth It? Watch before you buy!

No computer accessory has given me more pain and headaches than this stupid mouse.
How many times its randomly decides to stop working, forcing me to go through downloading, uninstalling, reinstalling drivers every time I wanna use the thing
Not to mention their horrible customer support
As of right now, mine is nothing more than a $170 paperweight.
Fuck this company

unfortunately, the space navigator is no longer supported. the last updates were in 2020. mine now lets the pc menus scroll down on their own after a while of idling. despite having the latest drivers, there are no more firmware updates because the update tool no longer recognizes the navigator.
is there already a community solution for this?
although the support is trying to keep the product working, i wonder if products from the company are worth the purchase if at some point the support is gone although the device is robust and functional.

It’s really painful to watch how it’s controlled by your right hand. It’s designed for your left hand.

3DConnexion goes in the LEFT hand and the computer mouse goes in the RIGHT hand.

Basically they shouldn’t have used the word “mouse” in the name, and people are derpy about understanding what it’s meant for and what hand to use it with

thanks for a great viideo. question - I suspect this won't do much in the web version of Sketchup? I used to have Sketchup installed but over the years I've not had commercial use of Sketchup so I really miss the standalone program instead of being forced over to the web version.

You need to use the Space Mouse in your left hand and your regular mouse in your right.

If you move your right hand from the controller to the mouse, I strongly advise you to move the SpaceMous to your left hand. Working with both hands is a fundamental advantage when working with 3Dconnexion products.
