Everytime I come to watch this I'm always dreading what I know is going to happen hoping that it will be different this time.

I know it's sort of a side-point for how good this scene is on all levels, but holy shit the editing is amazing. Whoever cut this together was at the top of their game. Just look at how strategically it moves our attention from the fighters to the onlookers like Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Elaria, and Tywin - insanely well-cut fight scene. I'm sure the editor(s) put a lot of thought and work into how to bring this across, and it paid off.

Didn’t like the way Oberyn dies, cliche.

I’ve been watching horror movies filled with blood/gore my whole life and am very desensitised but this scene was one of the very few where when watching it I actually cringed and almost covered my eyes, and it wasn’t even the eye gouge that did it it was his screams, the way he went from being full of bravado and confidence to just screaming and wailing like a small child completely helpless. And let’s be honest we could all see what was about to happen when he started monologuing so it wasn’t really a shock factor involved. Pedro did a amazing job.

He got his revenge in Last Of Us

The build up to this scene is just great and the fact we we’re all stunned by it really shows that, however (unpopulair opinion) I think the way he dies is a bit stupid. I understand Oberyn was too cocky and that’s what made him lose the fight and I understand the Mountain is supposed to be incredibly strong, but I just think the Mountain being able to crush his scull just a few seconds after he was exhausted en stabbed 2-3 times in the stomach (which is extremely painfull) by a spear with poison is a bit too much. Also, when Oberyn falls it makes no sense for him to not just roll away to the other side, but instead he goes toward the Mountain. He can get caught of guard, but as soon as he tumbles, his reflections should definitly be more quick than those from the Mountain (as shown troughout the fight)
I know I sound frustrated by the fact he died (which ofc I am) but in the end, George just kept the mountain alive for Cleganeboll and the rest just adds up to drama, thus making this a cliché game of thrones experience (which is a good thing and what makes the show unique, but still in this ocassion for me, it just feels too much like heavy plot armour) I get all the references that got is not a show for justice etc. but idk this always felt a bit meaningless considering the mountain survived for no other reason rather than super medics. If they both had died my opinion would’ve maybe been different and without the scene we would have missed so many great scenes following afterwards, but hey it’s just my opinion curious to hear others!
