Hi There! I really need your help. I was actually going to call your office today, I’m in the Bay Area. About 2.5 months ago I started my weight loss journey. I let myself get up to 401lbs! I’ve lost 35 lbs so far but having serious issue with my right knee. I’ve started to think it might be a ligament/tendon issue, or perhaps it is the knee. I am swimming and doing the treadmill 2x per day. As of this past weekend, I am only swimming. Every time I use the treadmill I get a lot of knee pain. I don’t want to be sidelined or develop an injury. I’ll be going to get my knees X-ray tomorrow. Is there any advice or instruction to help me heal this up? Please and Thank You for any assistance you may provide!!! :-). -Laura

Tight muscles press on the knee like a squeeze. Massage should help. I can't believe the Drs don't tell you and I had to figure out on my own.

After a knee injury from a fall and busy with physio. The only good thing to come out of it was it has corrected my posture. Before used to be round shouldered and stoop somewhat. That now hurts to much pressure on the knee. Distributing the weight to the glutes def. helps. Thank you for your great videos

Hi Doc. Your videos on knee arthritis is really helping me to go on. Doing most of the exercises as advised. It's 2 and half months after arthroscopy on my knee. On stage 4 as the report said before the surgery. Removed tiny fragments of shattered bones. Some liquid and shaved a bone spur. Can't say I am perfect now but these few treatments did help a little. Stairs is a nightmare as its bone on bone. Avoiding stairs whenever I can. Long road trips are when there is discomfort when I have to get out of the car . Lot of imbalance because I have been sitting for a long time. Then my thoughts are. ' Oh my God do I have to have more surgery now!!!"🤣 But once I take a few steps then it becomes okay. Can walk throughout the mall with very little discomfort. Then I think""hey I don't need surgery:" Wearing a knee brace when you need to walk for long period makes it manageable. I have said to myself that I WILL NEVER DO A KNEE REPLACEMENT. God and u doc must help me with that☺️

I am dealing with a knee problem and I noticed that when I start to do squats and I feel a twinge of knee pain, instinctly I push my knees out and the pain goes away and my glutes tighten, and this enables me to finish my squats. You have just confirmed for me that I have been doing the right thing, Thank You

I must have some extreme glute amnesia because even trying to spread my legs as far as I could, I would still only feel the burn in my quads (although way less than w/o spreading my legs, so many my glutes are working but I'm just not feeling them).

I could feel this more in the adductors, which, for me, have always been weak. Gluts also kicked in, when i focused more on them. Thank you for this! While my knee isn't as severe as others' this feels like a turning point! 👍🙏😁

Someone please answer.
I am 47 and I too possibly have early onset OA. This morning I tried walking with my feet and therefore knee slightly pointing outward (usually it is points straight to the front). I could squeeze my glute muscles a bit with every step. And also i felt some strange muscles in the uppermost inner thigh kicking in. Felt a little pain there but felt good. Can you relate. Pl lemme know. Especially when we say knee out that means feet also out right, that's what I wanted to know

That's nice unless you have a miniscus tear on the lateral side; I won't do that with my lateral miniscus tear. But that was a "cute" way to bring up that information for him.

Lately I've been seeing videos on the benefits of the good ole horse stance.

I do other styles rather than chinese martial arts and have not given it the love it deserves.

Maybe I will do timed horse stances a couple times a week.
