Shocking video shows teen's tragic drowning

My heart goes out to her mother. But don’t you usually sign a waiver absolving the people of responsibility who are nice enough to take your son on a field trip? Where is his sense of responsibility? Should he not find out how deep the water is before jumping in if you cannot swim? Are you people just after money?

This seems so unusual, everybody was standing up on the bottom of the river some were even sitting on the bottom with their bodies a few feet out of the water. I can't help but wonder how he drowned in such shallow water.

Just spitballing here, but why didn't he just stand up? All of the others are standing up!! Tagic yes but totally avoidable if in fact this kid didn't know how to swim. wtf are you doing in the water?

I was at a friends lake house on vacation .
My friend dared me to hang on to the side of his boat to see how long i could hang on .
I hung on for about 20 seconds, and then l let go, and the boat kept driving away .
I remember swimming back to the boat the current was really strong.
And I couldn't figure out why I felt so weak .
Then I realized I was weak from hanging on to the side of the boat
I would swim a few feet, then I'd stop and go under some guys on another boat, saw what was happening, jumped into the water, and saved me .
I forgot all about it until i watched this video .
Almost drowning was the most tarriffing experience i ever had

So he was too embarrassed to admit that he didn't know how to swim? Then he was to embarrassed to yell for help when he was drowning? This is clearly a case natural selection. He chose death over embarrassment.

If you burn yourself with a bic lighter should you sue bic ? If you don't know how to swim should you enter the water?

The state of georgia should, in turn sue the mother for not teaching her child who is a grown adult, how to swim. If you don't know how to swim don't get in the water plain and simple

First day, first activity, pregnant scarring. Done, many of these kids will rethink it all what they may have thought was a prank, what they didn't hear or ignored. And this young man, terrified, somewhere foreign, and just about to start his next chapter😢

Bro i went to the pool around a week later and iam short bcause iam seventh grade still any way i was right next to the ladder in the pool me feet were reaching the ground but i overthinked and almost drowned even though there was a girl on the ladder but she didn't give a frick i almost lost my life but thank god that i didnt and may he rest in peace
Edit: its just scary to think about drowning like every time i think about it i just have a.....feeling a bad feeling like u trying to hop up to breath but cant and just die its scary to think about

RIP. Poor kid. Condolences to his mom, family, and friends. What should’ve been a great and memorable time ended tragically. They should’ve had life vests for those who can’t swim so things like this are avoided. The beaches are tricky. Sometimes, there are unexpected drops in shallow waters. For someone who can’t swim like myself, I’m terrified of this happening to me so I’m very weary when I’m near any body of water.

If that was my child the teachers that were on the trip would be fucking dead

The water wasn’t even that deep. I’m confused why didn’t he just stand up. And if he couldn’t swim AT ALL why was he in the water? He should’ve screamed HELP. Or splashed around making a scene. People must know how to swim it’s almost a requirement Incase you end up in water which very likely

oh my god did that woman just accuse /blame the kids for ignoring him even though you can barely hear anything because he was under water & its a bit of a weird one considering all the kids are able to stand up because the water is only waist height

oh come on, he wasnt a toddler , as tragic as this is it was clearly an accidental death, if he couldnt swim then how can teachers or whoever be expected to know that especially since he was not a little kid. the parent should have either taught him how to swim or should have told the guardians that he couldnt swim & you wouldnt send a kid on a trip away to anywhere with water without checking one of those boxes.. dont think its fair to blame & no doubt sue the school

It happened to me I was literally one feet away from like 20 or so people no one noticed somehow someone who was sitting on the edge noticed and saved me it's really terrifying when help is so near yet so far

If you slow the video down you can clearly see that he’s in a depth of water that doesn’t even require swimming. Kids are standing in the water around him. They aren’t even wading.

That’s crazy. That means someone probably watched the video when they found it and found out to turn it in. Sad :/

Would've been easy for those white boys to swim underwater, grab that boy by the ankles and pull him under. No one would have seen, except those involved in the 'prank'.

These kind of videos are there to pull at your emotions. There was no talk about specifically how he died? It seems like it was shallow water so what happened here? I'm not blaming the kid but they're just seems to be some other factors as to why he might have died. Did he pass out? And nobody noticed?

week ago a kid was taking a swim test , the “lifeguard” was watching a clock .
the kid went under and his sister had to save him .
Very few kids who pass swim tests can actually swim .

is this what they call a quiet drowning? My God, what a beautiful child lost. If a class goes on a trip and u don’t have someone’s trip then don’t bother coming back. The nerve of them to return & say: “we couldn’t find him”. One adult shouldn’t stayed behind with the authorities & then another chaperone should’ve changed shifts with the first chaperone who initially stayed behind when he was initially deemed missing. That would’ve seemed as if they truly cared for their students and their well being. If he’s missing and then turns up hours later he had hypothermia, hunger etc to deal with being out there alone if he had survived. wow they were cold to just leave why not call mom while he was missing so she could show up and be apart of everything?

I really don't think those other kids noticed him struggling. It is not unusual for children to be struggling in pools and nobody notices anything.
