3/4 ton all day. Never trade my super Duty for anything.
ОтветитьDude, I just subscribed, my only complaint is you ramble to much, just get to it bro!! Other than that great channel and very helpful as I get into overlanding in a tight budget with my family!!! It’s a great family involved activity and kids can learn a lot by traveling seeing things!!!! Thanks buddy
ОтветитьYou really took a shit on the Tacoma, glad you didn’t have the frontier up here
ОтветитьOk so im thinking about a diy military camper trailer. More micro camper style. I like the small campers for trails and how they can have water and other amenities. The cost of buying one is way too much. But a military trailer is relatively priced. Pretty durable and ready for trails. I’ve been doing the numbers and I’ll probably have the trailer under 4000lbs. The gross weight after build.but it is the vehicle option. I wanna invest in the right vehicle. I like Tacoma. Very reliable good gas. But on donut media after adding some mods they became too heavy. And I’d like to mod front and back bumper and I like the racks everyone is having in they’re truck to go with a pop up tent if just like a rack to extend over the cab so I have more storage space. After putting in stuff and people will the Tacoma pull the trailer and itself. I plan on having a winch regardless but I’d like recommendations whether a v6 can do it or v8 is more comfortable to do it. Id like to do a setup with a v6 so if I can make some other modifications without compromising anything then sweet
ОтветитьQuick observation - in the video it is said that the Tacoma is getting about 15 mpg as modified and the Tremor was getting about 11 mpg before and after mods. That makes sense to me. However, based on many discussion on the Tremor Forum as well as data from Fuelly - a diesel Tremor with the stock 4.30 rear and stock 35 inch tires cannot be expected to come close to 18 mpg. It is rare for an unloaded SD 250 with higher rear gears to get that mpg. I'm not saying nobody gets that, I am saying the data doesn't support it. Based on my analysis, I think a safe comparable figure on the 6.7 PS is about 3 mpg greater than the 7.3 Godzilla.
ОтветитьI googled the f250 tremor….. well, now I’m buying one of those instead of the gmc Denali truck I was looking at.
Ответитьmaintenance and diy are a big reason to get a mid-size truck as well. I can still park my tacoma in my garage and do all the work on it myself even with a 7' garage door and a smaller 2-car garage. Just easier to work around and on versus a massive HD truck
ОтветитьAnother thing is access little trucks the beds are easier to reach in and grab something the hd trucks you can't even reach into the bed
ОтветитьI'll take the ford
ОтветитьSo if you could only buy one truck would it be a f250 or a tundra?
ОтветитьThat f250 💘
ОтветитьHmm Chevy single cab long bed with a 3' lift on 33 wheels? How would that fair?
ОтветитьAre you the asian dude from the 2nd season of HBO's "white lotus" that appears as the husband of Aubrey Plaza?.....or is that just your doppelgänger?
ОтветитьDont forget that general maintenance for HD trucks will be at least 2-3X of a 1/4 ton sized vehicle. My 6.7L takes almost 14qts of oil vs. a 4 cylinder is about 5qts.
ОтветитьF150 drive really smoothe too also with a small engine with turbo in like a ranger when they modify them a lot with weight the fuel economy gets so bad cause its always in boost
ОтветитьAh yes, its like Ford Boys vs Toyota Girls. Who wins in the workforce, the "Ford" Boys. Who wins in the actual workforce? "Toyota" Girls.
Even so, kinda wish Ford did better. I dont want this EV thing at all, why? Cuz it killed the ICE
No brainer,......my toyota crewmax with the rear seats taken out,..has a 5 x 4 1\2 bed in cab with storage all under it,...plus the whole rear window rolls down,....access to bed with two rooftop tents,....one with base cut out for over bed of truck with enclosed rack,...then another rooftop tent over cab,.....two bedrooms plus standup living room\kitchen,......I gain a whole bed\hangout area with the large tundra cab
ОтветитьThis bato doesn’t answer anything to no body.
ОтветитьThe Tacoma in 4wd, dbl cab is actually less than 1200 lbs., and every Tacoma I have seen set-up for overlanding is overloaded by anywhere from a couple of hundred pounds to being over double the payload.
People are out there with Kimbo's and FWC'ers and are carrying payloads of 2200-2500 lbs. An accident with one of those will negate insurance and if a death occurs, you will be criminally negligent and in serious trouble...not you...but people doing that.
Love the tremor!!! I use to be a small truck person. The older I get the more the big trucks appeal to me!!
ОтветитьIf you get an f150 w the v8 or one of the ecoboosts you will get better mpg from the bigger truck. All that tacoma has is bullet proof reliability and more trail access when things get tight.
ОтветитьTook my 05 tacoma on a trip to ouray, on the way down i was daydreaming of a bigger, newer truck with more comforts and similar mpg that could tow my old snowmobiles easier.
As soon as I headed up black bear pass I knew I had the right truck. I did 1,000+ miles in a weekend on a truck with 265k miles and it keeps on tickin. That being said I was just offered a good deal on a 2014 laramie with a lift...
Bigger can carry more. Weight is heavier. Thanks Cap'n Obvious.
ОтветитьGreat Video! Good discussion. For the Super Duty, the advantage of the the gasoline engine over the diesel is the Diesel engine is heavy and will reduce your payload.
ОтветитьLike the video but really need a script or some two x three cards as you say the same thing over and over and over.
ОтветитьSuper helpful
ОтветитьThis guy has my dream lifestyle
ОтветитьI'm looking to buy a truck so I can start this new adventure, but why so many Toyota Tacoma's are used? I'm looking to buy a Silverado/ Sierra, or F150. Why is the Tacoma so popular?
ОтветитьGood info! I'm new to this "world" of Overlanding. Need to learn as much as I can any other videos out there that I can learn from send'em my way..thanks
ОтветитьGreat synopsis! I'm moving from a Jeep to a Power Wagon, and couldn't agree more with all of your points. Thanks!
ОтветитьI thought overlanding was leave no trace.. enjoy the beauty and the experience. So the 40 inch tires on a huge diesel with massive tread is going to tear the crap out of the trails. And get the trails closed off from damage. Thats not smart
ОтветитьDont understand why towing 15 k pounds is a plus for off roading. Are you taking a tow rv ?? Or a trailer full of motorcycles and quads . Cause screw it. Take a stock subaru 80 percent of the way and a dirt bike on a back rack past where the big truck cant go
ОтветитьI think the suv does way better off road with storage and weight balance than a pickup.
Big trucks are so heavy before any gear. They get difficult to stay unstuck
Inspired me to try and make my 2500 Duramax into an Over lander. Great content. You have helped me with gear, clothing, and vehicle purchases and considerations. Vertex, Diamondback, Holster, Dometic, Jackery thanks again
ОтветитьSome good tires and a decent suspension go very, very far. Lots of stuff is not needed for many people.
ОтветитьReally really interesting content. Really helpful as I am on the market for a truck or SUV as well
ОтветитьFyi, F150s also come in 6.5 bed. Same footprint as F250
ОтветитьHey! Love your videos. Working on outfitting my Forester for some overlanding. Any plans to do more videos on your Forester since it's such a common vehicle in CO.
Ответить"This can tow 15,000 pounds... It can tow a TON of weight."
Is... Is anybody going to tell him? Haha.
Mike thank you for this video, I’m been going crazy over this, I’ve been looking for the ideal truck, and you have answered a lot questions! And that “don’t go into debt” advice, best one yet!
ОтветитьThose fender flares are hideous.
ОтветитьThanks for your video.
I have been build up my 2018 F250 powerstroke, kitchen remodel has put some mods on hold for now. Front bumper, back bumper and rock sliders on the list of next to do. Rack system and 3 person tent as of now
The seats in a tacoma are way way too small for medium sized folks
ОтветитьA 7 year old f150 4wd with 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires will do 90 percent of what terrain comes up at a lot less cost..
Too much crap just starts making things expensive and heavy.
Good tires and a rear locker offers a lot of capability.. if you can get by with 400 pounds of total gear. Your truck will get around better.
There is no off-roading in the video if you wanted to see that like me, it’s just him talking
ОтветитьThe Tacoma is a dream truck of mine. After i get my Nitro paid off, I’m going to get one.
ОтветитьNon car people sleep on toyotas, but people who actually use Toyotas for off roading love not only the reliability compared to their counterparts especially the ease of repair, but the fact there are so many mods out there
Ответить
